I get graphics corruption with BoingBag 4 on my Mediator 4000Di with a Radeon 9200 256 MB. It is if one or more of the colours are missing or the screen depth is messed up..

You can see two screens here:
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/139090/IMG_0322.JPG
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/139090/IMG_0321.JPG

I had the same problem on the version (think it is 0.9n) that is linked to here: http://lilliput.amiga-projects.net/bbag4.htm

I did not have the problem on the version of BoingBag 3 released here: http://lilliput.amiga-projects.net/bbag3isdone.htm

I am using Picasso96 2.1c (alpha).

I did not get the same problem when I installed 0.9.n on an install with my CVPPC so there is possibly a conflict or something with the Mediator software somewhere in BoingBag 4.

Well I found a - kind of - solution.

I had the Radeon set to 1280x1024 32bit BGRA. When I change the screenmode to for instance 1280x1024 16bit PC the colourerrors are gone. And they are also gone, when I again go back to 1280x1024 32bit BGRA or another screenmodeee.

If I save the mode to 1280x1024 16bit and reboot the colour problem is there again but disappears when I change the screenmode to another mode - as above.

Strange problem.... Hope this can help to a fix.

You can test DonAdan's graphics.library which so far seems stable enough!
Thanks for the answers, guys! So I will try out loading that graphics library manually.

I have a problem at my system with BB4 and diskfont. I installed the BB4 0.9n as found at the lilliput.amiga-projects.net, and after that I could use only 4 fonts. It seems that the system didn't read the other fonts, even if I run the fix-fonts program. Also, the font-cache is 175bytes long. The old one, as I founf it from a backup was 715 b.

After I read this thread I found that the BB4 0.9n is not the latest, so I downloaded and installed the 0.9q. Unfortunately, the same thing was happening. only four fonts where usable. The diskfont.library is v.45.8

I tried to load the previous version of the library as I had it at my backup, v.45.7, maybe from BB3. After a reboot, all the fonts where there, available to use.

I hope this helps for finding the bugs.

I had issues as well with Diskfont.library 45.8.037 (07/12/2012) once I updated it as well on December.

I discovered that CreateOutline command (which is used to create outlines/shadows in fonts) wasn't working as intended.
In fact it creates the new font plus the .font file, but font's can't be used (they seem corrupt).

Once I replaced the diskfont.library with the original one (45.8) everything worked like a charm.

Can't remember what else I tried, but I only got the same 4 fonts as Walkero had. I replaced all the fonts from a backup plus the fonts.prefs and everything was working just fine.
Edit: I remembered... If you run FixFonts... then it will SCREW your fonts as Walkero said.

Imho, better stick with the default diskfont.library.

OK, I'll remove diskfont.library from the next release, if this issue has not been fixed by then.

Gulliver is updating it but I guess he's offline atm.
Don't worry he will soon I believe.

Btw Minuous mate, have you also updated PeterK's newest icon.library ?
I haven't saw that in the changelog notes.

I have sent Gulliver an email just in case he isn't watching this thread. In the meantime the URLs are:

http://amigan.1emu.net/releases/BoingBag4-0.9r.lha
http://amigan.1emu.net/releases/BoingBag4.readme

BB4 and Aminet icon.library version is still V46.4.270. I assumed the likeliest reason why V46.4.272 hadn't been uploaded to Aminet was that it was an unstable or interim version. But I have downloaded V46.4.272 and will test it for inclusion in V0.9s.

The latest icon.library version is 46.4.276 - see here: http://www.a1k.org/forum/showpost.ph...&postcount=491
Peter mentioned code clean-up a few more experimental speed optimizations. I think it still needs some testing before he releases a new stable to Aminet.

icon.library 46.4.275/6 are causing bugs with DOpus Magellan. Please don't use or spread them.

Update to icon.library 46.4.277

I hope the bugs with DOpus5 are fixed now.

If I install AfA_OS on a BB4 (0.9s) system I get a requester complaining about needing v37 datatypes.library.

This doesn't happen if I install AfA_OS on top of a BB3 install.

Does anyone know a fix for this?

Thanks.

EDIT - Please ignore me, i'm an idiot.

I forgot to assign AfA_OS: in my startup-sequence.

Praise The Lord and Thank you. The latest BB4 install fixes several issues over the original one I used and I've used it to upgrade all my 3.9 systems.

Iv'e found the exact same thing. I boot to 1920x1080 on my Radeon and the color palette seems to be either missing colors or they're just displaying incorrectly, in a rather chunky way. If I launch Picasso96Modes and then just hit the 'test' button on the exact same resolution, it shows a weird corrupted screen... then the correct full palette test page, then is 'fixed'. Almost like something is causing it to not be initialized correctly.

This is with the latest BB3 and BB4 from http://amigan.1emu.net/releases

Seems I found a different work around... sort of. My current setup; Indivision MK1 AGA in an A4000D, the VGA connected to my ASUS VG23AH, and the Radeon 9250 is connected via DVI to the same monitor, and I just push a button to switch between VGA input and DVI input.

If I time it right, the VGA input from the Indivision will have an almost completely black screen, but it sort of goes completely black, then has the really dark color come back. That's when the Radeon kicks on. If I hurry up and jump to the DVI connection before the wallpaper loads, it comes up perfectly... well almost. It looks more like Hi-Color (16-bit) instead of TrueAlpha (32-bit). Again, using the Picasso96Mode program to test the screen re-initializes the video output and fixes the issue.

To add to this issue with the Mediator+Radeon card; seems the network card doesn't work quite right either, IBrowse works through Genesis, but when I try to download something, the network completely locks and I have to quit and restart Genesis for it to work again.

Can anyone tell me what the "FAST" in the LoadModule line does except making LoadModule ignore the whole command-line?
I've modded the add to the s-s like this:
Code:
;BEGIN BB4s MOD
Version >NIL: exec.library 45 REVISION 20
If WARN
SYS:C/LoadResident >NIL: DEVS:card.resource DEVS:trackdisk.device L:KingCON-Handler
EndIf
SYS:C/LoadModule >NIL: L:RAM-Handler DEVS:battmem.resource DEVS:FileSystem.resource DEVS:misc.resource DEVS:potgo.resource DEVS:scsi.device L:FastFileSystem L:Shell-Seg LIBS:dos.library REVERSE NOREBOOT
SYS:C/SetPatch SKIPROMUPDATES console.device,ram-handler,FileSystem.resource,filesystem,scsi.device,shell QUIET
;END BB4s MOD
I've added L:RAM-Handler and removed LIBS:icon.library and LIBS:workbench.library (as these two are loaded anyway from disk by SetPatch when not using "DISABLEROMMODULES """). The following needs to be named like this to be recognized by SetPatch:
console -> console.device
filesysres -> FileSystem.resource
fs -> filesystem
scsi -> scsi.device (unsure about this one)
And off course I've removed the FAST from LoadModule.
Wouldn't it be better to stick with either LoadModule OR LoadResident? I've experimented a bit with both but the results are inconclusive but I've found it best to let it remain as is.

My LoadModule is version 40.12 (3.10.2009), is there e newer one?

>I've added L:RAM-Handler

Why? Ram-Handler isn't part of BB4 (nor BB3)...

>My LoadModule is version 40.12 (3.10.2009), is there e newer one?

No, not AFAIK.

>Can anyone tell me what the "FAST" in the LoadModule line does

Most likely it was a valid argument for some previous version.

V0.9t has been released which fixes the issues raised.
