Look at FFmpeg, it have source code for iff (except ANIM, fill free to improve that ...) and cdxl decoder & demuxer, it is also posible to extend this to encoder & muxers for iff and cdxl ....

That way it will work on any machine which can run ffmpeg...

Yes, it can be used with HAM8, and what's better is that it's possible to make HAM8 videos compatible with HAM6 displays. It works by simply using a 16 color base palette for HAM8 and storing the two extra bitplanes of data at the end of a frame so that they can be skipped with a seek function, instead of reading the data to save bandwidth. This works, because when you only use a 16 color base palette, the two extra HAM8 bits only encode for more color depth (normally they can code for more palette colors as well).

However, 1440*576 doesn't seem viable, because of the chipmem bandwidth restrictions, and it's not available to people who use a VGA dongle.

Ham6 Speed Test - Amiga 600 vs Amiga 1200

[ Show youtube player ]
(in German)

I have converted now the complete Star Wars Episode IV movie to Ham6.
Here is a short video showing the speed difference between Amiga 600 and Amiga 1200.

For Amigas with 68000 CPU you should use 320x216 10FPS and 11KHz Mono Audio or use Stereo but decrease the video resolution to about 320x200 or less.

For faster Amigas like the Amiga 1200 you can use 320x216 up top 20FPS.

Thank you!
The complete movie has 3,8 Gigabytes.
I have splitted the video into two parts.

Part 1: 2 GB
Part 2: 1,8 GB

Cheers,
Reini

Hello guys. I did another build of AVI4HM.EXE, with FreeBasic compiler, because I was unable to run this programme under Windows XP and even under ugly Win98. It's perfectly working now. In case anybody is interested, I will try to find how to upload it. I'm newbie here

tested AVI4HV.EXE under WinXP, FreeCompiler

Well, as mentioned before, I successfully made binary file under WinXP. Original version always crashed when I entered all parameters (and they were OK). So let's try it and let me know if it's better now. I tried also to make a port for Mac OS X, but since there is no VirtualDub alternative, it has no sense..
Attached Files
File Type: zip avi4hvtdm.zip (57.4 KB, 199 views)

i dont think so, no SHAM.
he added new player and converter for HAM8 and HAM6. there is also a sample of a HAM8 video. SHAM is not mentioned in any of the source/txt files.

does one know, how to check what framerate you get?

Please please only record the output of the Amiga directly NOT pointing some camera at a TV screen. This is the only way for people to accurately tell the real FPS and the effectiveness of the animation speed to convince your brain you're watching a movie

Hello,

I have a trivial but serious issue when it comes to converting movies/tv shows into hv for the classic Amiga. My issue is getting the frame rate to synch with the audio when I do avi4hv. I am unable to get any other show converted for Amiga classic after I have done the first one (ren and stimpy). It is because if there are frame rate like 28.837 avi4hv turn it into 29 or 28. This little difference of 0.837 causes an error in conversion and there is a little obvious unsync between animation and audio. So I am wondering if there is away to resolve this in the windows side when I save the audio as .wav and the video as .avi and I combine them together with avi4hv that they are synched (audio and image) together and it continues with conversion and does not stop at 800 MB with an error.

That is my problem. Anyone who have faced the same problem but resolved it, I would love your help in this regard so I can continue my work.

Thanks in advance.

I'd like to see that episode of Ren and Stimpy :-)
But asking for a donation is a bit cheeky isn't it? If anyone should have a donation shouldn't it be DamageX?

You are right. Forget the donation part. I am doing it freely for the pleasure of enjoying the movie and tv show on classic Amiga. However, can anyone help me on my problem? Concerning seeing that episode of ren and stimpy all you have to do is send me an ftp link with user name or password so I can upload it for you. It is 800+ MB after all.
