At the time when the Amiga 500 was launched my 4 year old Spectrum 48k was slowly going wrong.
So, in 1988, I chose the Amiga because in magazine adverts of the time the screenshots looked superior to any other platform. Plus, my best friend had got one and he managed to get his hands on new cracked games each week. Fast forward a couple of years and everyone I knew had one! |

Similar situation to you. I went down the Sinclair route, getting a ZX81 followed a couple of years later by a ZX Spectrum+ (both of which I still have and are fully functional).
Computers went on the backburner when I joined the Royal Navy in 1988. That was until I had the chance to use both the Atari ST and Amiga 500, both owned by colleagues I worked for. Having the benefit of both worlds I settled for the Amiga 500, getting the first one bought for me for my birthday in 1989. I think, if memory serves it came from Dixons at the Elephant and Castle shopping centre in London. Kind regards Andy |
