You might need to split the screens in 16x16 blocks so to reduce the size of the stored image in RAM i think - plus some optimization here and there

You could say the game is for expanded A1200/A4000 only? That means some more speed due to the fast ram, and also up to 4/6MB to use up. Back in the day I had a 12MB A500!

Not really looking at ram consumption until the project is finished. Optimisations can come later.

Still chipping away at this game. Almost have a working AI it's not very clever but hopefully I can make it a bit challenging. Thanks to a recent feature I requested on scorpion engine with compressed or sliced sprites this games looks like it will fit on any ECS amiga with 1MB of chip ram. I say ECS because as far as I am aware OCS only supports a maximum of 512KB chip ram. I tested on a A600 (emulated) and I ran fine I will target 25fps as the sliced graphics have a performance hit. Hope to have a playable demo soon.

Creating AI logic is quite the challenge, shaping up nicely though, great work!

Looks great. Did you find out what the bug was that prevented you from staying on the ground when you lost your energy? Was it a easy fix?

I am still working on this if you want every little update keep a eye on my github page. After losing a lot of work due to not backing up I now backup after any change I make. You can find my github here: https://github.com/msmalik681/street_fighter_1_amiga
Right now still adding functionality, need the cpu to be more aggressive, need to add player and enemy blocking and there some input bugs I need to iron out. Then I should be able to finish in no time. I hope to be finished early next year. |

No bigger SF1 Arcade fan than me, I remember it appearing in our local arcade (6 button version), saturday afternoon's you had to wait in line to play it as it was so popular, great game for It's time, I ended up purchasing the arcade machine which still sits in my living room all because of the shite job Tiertex did with the conversions especially the Amiga and ST ones so I'll be keeping my fingers crossed you'll get this new version done.
You have any footage of Birdie and Eagle yet? P.s, be sure to go by the original board and not the copy board which Tiertex obviously did (the stupid @$£%?!), the original proper version has England the fourth country and China as the third if starting play with Japan,...the copy board has England as the third country and China as the fourth which is the wrong way round. One last thing, no chance of it being overscan then?! I'm guessing not as the score and energy bars are placed in the boarder at the top. Fingers crossed It'll work on A500 with 1meg. |
