Hey folks,
I don't know if this thread is dead or not but I thought I'd chime in anyway. Final Fight was never going to fully work on the OCS machines and even the ECS 68000 machines would have struggled. However has anyone considered just a straight port using the 1991 game's graphics to the Amiga 1200? With a game like Final Fight speed is everything so while the reduced palette might not be pretty it might be good for maximum functionality while preserving the sprite size and accuracy (I think Leathered's port used reduced sprites). With the extra RAM it could hold all the player frames, and with the extra processing power there would be much less slowdown if the enemy numbers were kept sensible (maybe 4 on screen). Personally I couldn't give a f**k about parallax scrolling or lots of colours. The original 1991 game looked fine to me, it just didn't have enough of the arcade game's player moves. I was messing around in my paint program and I managed to apply the original 1991 Amiga game's palette to the arcade sprite sheet and so all the frames with the 16 colour palette are now available. The top row is Haggar's arcade "stance" (which was left out of the original Amiga port) plus his Amiga walking frames, and the second row is all the arcade walking frames (I could probably do the other player/enemy sprites if need be). Maybe I'm talking out my arse, but it also may be something to consider if anyone is up for a "from scratch" Blitz port, or even a bare metal assembly if anyone has the stomach for it, because all the backgrounds are easily available from Codetappers site too. |

@Brick Nash
If we reduce a little bit its' size as screen area, a very good porting can be done even on ocs/ecs! |

Expected outcome:
- someone says yeah this is my dream project! - EAB: cheers! - months of steady progress - EAB: good on you! - silence - silence - EAB: soooo... any news? - Distractions, kids, job, sickness, doing four projects at the same time - EAB: sadness Yes yes, I'm a pessimist. But I'm quoting history here, several times |

Same here. I just don't say it anymore. But the feeling is still here. So many examples... |

Technically I could do it as I've been playing the Arcade game with my 3 year old who absolutely loves it.
Would I want to though? I'd need a lot of incentive as I just don't feel the love with the game. There's also the risk of doing it... dangerous to do Capcom titles methinks. I'd prefer to do another project if I'm honest. |

Oh my God ... I misread. Hah...
I apologize. I played them both on my C64, even I think I finished Yie-ar, but never been able to finish kung fu master. Yeah, Yie-ar was awesome on C64, and I always wondered why they didn't attempt making Street Fighter 2 in that sort of speed, and play-ability. |

For those interested you might want to tune in to Amiga Bill's next stream on Thursday.

Final Fight seems to be cursed on the Amiga. when others have tried bringing this game to the Amiga they've either, sadly passed away or the datas been lost forever. Similar to SF2, tons of versions but all missing the mark in some way. Sigh. Maybe one day we'll see it done right. Last edited by trydowave; 18 November 2020 at 22:21. |

Back in 90's, Final Fight along with Operation Wolf, Outrun and Space Harriers in the Arcade was amazing and can now played at Leeds Arcade Club
I seem think Making Beat em up isnt easy because of collisions such punching the enemies as like you have work out rectangle collisions of the punch that connected the enemies as does that seem tricky? |

Ooh Metro Siege looks really good - amazing what someone can do with Amiga beat-em-ups if they put their minds to it ;-)
