I think they are angling for the ability to overwrite the entire FW with something else and then restore it at some time in the future like you can with some other android/linux based mini consoles.

RGL are about to release the Amiga Maxi as you know, so hardware and software development from them is far from dead! The RGL Carousel doesn't have internet compatibility and hence firmware updates just add new features which you can take or leave really. The soft mods which includes internet functionality are being constantly updated. I started using Pandory V3 last month and it's great! |

The point being you have to softmod it. Why have they not updated Amiberry or included features people want like internet. I would love to be able to edit carousel and add games I want, instead of messing with a USB stick. Yes, I am an actual user of A500 Mini. I have to use pandory, just to be able to use my Floppy Drawbridge. Quote:
You missed my point completely, I remember a patch for a kickstart that was done around 2010 and it was never uploaded for a very long time. Proberly cause main site that housed it went down not long after its release. Quote:
Lets wait and see, what approach they take. Every one moaned about lack of mini features and stuff. They still haven't addressed alot of what people want on Mini. |

Amiga Kit attended Kickstart 02 show this weekend. The new A600GS was demonstrated and had a great reception. Thanks to all who came past our stand and chatted to us about the new computer.

That depends on if any purchasers are willing to film, edit, and upload some to YouTube! I'm getting the impression that we won't be seeing any from AmigaKit themselves. I hope I'm wrong on that. Maybe they're just waiting for ongoing system development to stabilize before unleashing a torrent of videos... |

Those two brief tutorial videos are a lukewarm start. What's really needed is at least a couple of buyers to post reviews to YouTube, and hopefully those reviews are more positive than negative. Like it or not, YouTube has replaced traditional TV for many folks, so it's a medium that shouldn't be neglected. Surprised to see no further videos on the A600GS YouTube channel after this 16-second preview clip from seven months ago: [ Show youtube player ] If AmigaKit doesn't have the budget to produce lavish infomercials, even a series of amateurish videos would do wonders. Look at the way Stephen Jones churns out product videos from his home office - very amateurish, but highly informative and enjoyable. His face and voice have imprinted themselves into the minds of retrocomputing fans everywhere. And that's what the A600GS target market should be - the broader retrocomputing scene. Please don't make the mistake of staying within the confines of the Amiga community! |

I backed his Retro monitor project on day 1. I've followed all of his videos. They were interesting and informative at the start but they are now tedious. They contain almost no new information. The same information is regurgitated over and over. I could forgive if there were new customers who needed a catch-up each episode but the number of buyers at the moment is locked to those who backed the kickstarter and we've all seen the previous videos. I tend not to watch live anymore but wait until the next day so I can FF to any possible relevant bits. Last edited by alexh; Today at 00:40. |
