Once again, I have a problem with Tecnoball (v1.1)
The game ran fine on WinUAE when I tested it. When I tried to run it on my real Amiga, I got the following error: DOS-Error #205 (object not found) on reading "data[]atom" The [] is actually a rectangle. I decompressed the files in Workbench, I have the latest WHDLoad version (registered, legally). Any ideas? I didn't have this problem with v1.0, but then v1.0 didn't have the data directory. |

Something must have gone wrong when you extracted the game as it works fine on my A1200 (just checked it).
[edit] Decided to do some play testing on ye olde A1200 and I'm currently at level 5. No problems so far whatsoever. [edit2] Played to level 9 where I had to quit game out of boredom. Worked flawless though. [edit3] I had to use lzx for Emerald Mines CD. LhA 2.15 crapped out twice on me during archiving the game (50000+ files !), so I used LZX 1.21 instead and all went well. Game was added as a zip too yesterday per request from Hungry Horace. What a nightmare of a game this is, it took roughly 40 minutes to zip in WinUAE/ClassicWB with über/ridiculous Amiga config. Gotta love WinUAE. |

Just so that people know... although it is not listed on the front page, a large number of Retroplay's install packs have been uploaded to www.whdownload.com and the online database updated.

I tried to extract Tecnoball again tonight; same problem. I was about to give up, until I thought of something else; I extracted the archive on PC and copied the files to the Amiga instead. And sure enough, it worked. How weird, I thought you were always supposed to extract LHA archives in Workbench.
Anyway, fun game. It really is a very good Breakout clone. |

I always test and extract the games in ClassicWB Full v27 (OS3.1) before upload to make sure they work (using Bloodwych's default Dopus 4.16 settings).
Does anybody else have problems extracting the game (Tecnoball) ? [edit] Video here [ Show youtube player ] Last edited by Retroplay; 14 March 2013 at 20:55. |

Just for fun I had a look with the automatic WHDLoad feature of FS-UAE (Choose the A1200 model and add the WHDLoad preinstall as DH0) and it worked nicely with Tecnoball Which in turns gave me the idea to ask how you extract Tecnoball on your Amiga? Which version of LHA or which other unarchiver did you use?

I use LHA evaluation v1.38, as a Directory Opus button. But I have the exact same setup on WinUAE, and there the game extracts and runs fine. Only when I extract it on my real Amiga I get the problem I describe above.

Use LhA 2.15 as that's what I use to pack/extract all .lha archives.

Thank you, I don't know why it never occurred to me to look for a more recent version all these years.
However, the problem persists when I extract the archive on Workbench! Here's a picture in case anyone thinks I'm making this up (I wouldn't blame you): Like I said I solved the problem by extracting it on PC instead, so it doesn't really matter except to satisfy our curiosity. |

No problem. I didn't say that to annoy you, the Mantis Bugtracker is the best way to report problems (or request new features) for patches since the authors of the patches check it regularly. It can happen that they don't ever see your thread here on EAB.
Check the "Currently in Work" section on the WHDLoad site, you'll see that C-Fou! is working on the Big Red Adventure patch. |
