Smile First Samurai Viewer

Hello Amigafans,

Here's a little present for Christmas!

I'm currently writing a level viewer for First Samurai.

The game is very well coded (although Time Bandit still stands at the first place ).
The main program contains some Gfx, effects and AI, and each stage adds its specific content along with the map (so each stage contains a lot of 68k code too, like Cadaver...).

Here's a little teaser of the first stage (4 levels). Next parts coming soon.

Edit :
First Samurai Viewer is now available on my website :
http://bringerp.free.fr/RE/

As usual, the source code is included with the binaries.

Merry Xmas!

Very impressive! I used this game as a test for Maptapper as it has a bunch of tricks, animated tiles, flipped tiles etc, so can really appreciate how much work you've put into this!

Can you remove enemies respawning for all the game?

No, each effect handles its own respawning code.

There's a variable which disables any kind of spawning, but it's only used during transition (the game may becomes unstable if used while moving the player).

I agree monster spawning is a bit high and tiresome sometimes.
Any other reason you wanted to do this ?

Thank you for mentioning it.

That was the source of my curiosity. Codetapper pointed me to this interview when i was reversing Gods. And Qube added some works on his own.

It's monster respawning all the time that why I asked if it is possible to remove respawning.
If it is per effect, then I guess that would be lots of work to have it removed.

Great work by the way.

I'm actually wondering the same thing.
I have some candidates on my list, but i can't decide myself.

Usually, an external event triggers my curiosity.
For First Samurai, that was the interview in Amiga Format which aroused it : Was First Samurai coded like they explained it ? Well, a big Yes!
