CDi emulator is working, made by a former CDi programmer (of Rise of the Robots).
There are a couple of 3DO emulators in the works. The problem with the 3DO is that the games aren't that good, and are dirt cheap. I have a couple 3DOs and 96 unique games last I checked, I'm probably over 100 now. If it wasn't for the Sanyo T.R.Y. system looking cool, I wouldn't have it hooked up much at all. |

Hey, CD-i games are worse than 3DOs
Fred, I'm talking about all the hardware indeed. Macintosh is not only about the mac OS X experience, is it? If I was running Mac OS X in this dull PC, it wouldn't be the same. I rather run it in a sleek, small, white, sexy iBook |

3DO had some superb games: Panzer General, John Madden Football, Gex...oops off topic.
I see your point Akira and adscolescent. You guys have a feel" of the hardware and that makes perfect sense for me it's the same with the classy, sleek, elegance of Mac hardware. But emulation still is ok for me. I even emulate Mac OS (albeit old ass 8.1) on this PC! |

My preference, in general, is to use the original hardware wherever it is possible. Something about using a nice big TV, perfect resolutions, and original controllers always made sense. I've been using backup units for almost 10 years now, so I've had the priviledge to experience games the way they were intended.
The Amiga is another story, I haven't had to rely on emulation much since I have a more than capable system for what I use it for now (mostly games). |

I always try to use the original hardware when possible. Most emulators have games that wont run correctly, sound glitches, cant use the original controller etc.
Emulation is the next best thing, or the only thing when you dont have the hardware. Also it is cheaper (I have 16+ carts for my 2600 atari but have every cart for my atari 2600 DC emulator). There is also the space limitation thing. If space and money wasnt an issue I would be buying every console and all the games ever made for them along with the top 500 pc games in box. I do thank god that the people who made hardware/software designed to read the roms from older computers/consoles have made it easy for me to dump the image files to disk and play them on the original systems. |

I would like to let this poll re-evaluate after 11 years. Could you vote now please? In 2002 it was 69 vs 31 percent for real Amiga, 38 vs 17 voters.

It would probably be better to start a new thread and poll (Real Amiga or Emulation 2013 edition), edit your above post with a link to it and compare the results between both.
Otherwise, if people voted in this thread, there is a risk of clutter. And also some people have changed their minds (different contexts) so they would have to change their votes |

Real --- usually...
Though some things do not run on my 1200 and then it is the choice : Do I dig out my 500/500+ or 600 ? Or Emulate ? Then again I never get Good Sound on my Emulated Set-Up. |

I want emulation just to get what I want to work for real, to try it and to use it faster sometimes. There is a lot of software out there to be tried/improved, and the best way is under emulation.
The pity is that the same happens with hardware: the time/hope waiting to improve something. With software you have to wait the same way for programs to be improved as with hardware for improvements. I have 3 miggys, and all are opened to improve things. I should close now 2 of them: I believe they already have what I want ... ejem.... by now. Last edited by Retrofan; 11 November 2013 at 23:10. |
