-Potentially dumb-ass questions alert-
From what Ive gathered, CAPS is about preserving Amiga games in the condition they were sold in (correct me if Im wrong here) It also seems to be against copying or 'pirating' so... When you have collected/restored all these perfectly preserved games, what then? Where are they? Who benefits from this? Whats the point? Again sorry if these are obvious q's. |

CAPS sends these games to people who provided them with the original dumps, because they know that this person has the original game.
therefore, offiically the people who benefit are the people who have a digital backup of their original game. this is the service that CAPS is providing. a digital backup service. the fact that their releases are appearing, and indeed, around these parts is not down to them. they have been leaked. leaked by the people who have them because they are entitled to them. NOT by any member of the CAPS team. as far as pircay goes - the unofficiall distribution of their releases, CAPS isnt involved in that at all. |

Nearly Interceptor.
Just one point. Releases are for people who own the game. We do not expect people to dump their games for us just to be "allowed" to get a release. It is also not really a digital backup service for Amiga games, but I guess can be described so in a way. The idea is that people who own the game will somehow get the releases one way or another. People who do not own the game can do what they like - we are largely unconcerned about it. It is not us breaking copyright laws. We leave this in the hands of the people - because we have no right to say what people do and not do. The reason you cannot ask for releases HERE is that: a) We do not want to be associated with distribution of the releases, because this has no relevence to what we do. It is just a side effect. b) It was not the point of this board! (to answer questions / discuss about CAPS). Hope that clears that up. |
