Thanks for the update galu, I have never even tried the save state option. I would much rather have a game work, than never be able to play it but have the ability to save progress in another if that makes sense. The more games that work due to compatibility tweaks, the better the emulation.
After all, this is to emulate the Amiga 500 and as we all know, that couldnt save states ;-) lol Thanks for all your hard work and time going into Omega |

The savestate feature does work with Fame/C, it's just that the old savestates are not compatible with the new core - and the whole "core selection" thing may be confusing for casual users.
By the way, if you guys enjoy the "QuickJoy" control scheme, there's my free app on Google Play (custom jostyick-keyboard) that can be used with nearly any other emulator - https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...u.dev.quickjoy - it also includes NES-style scheme (perfect for Super Mario Bros. games). |

The error is usually related to the APK install package made for newer (higher) version of Android. Yes, just the package, not necessarily the contents (like if you wanted to extract RAR 2.X archive with WinRAR 1.X - it won't go. Contents doesn't matter).

Omega500 uses "split touch events" API feature from Android 3.0+ (different views accepting simultaneous touch events - it greatly simplifies implementing various onscreen controls now and in the future).

How about those devices that have hardware keys and Android < 3 (Sony Xperia Play, JXD S601)? The "split touch events" are not needed in these cases.
Could you make a version for these variants? I'm thinking of buying Xperia Play because of its hw keys. |

I havn't had much time. But i tried the emulator on my Asus Transformer Prime and my S3. I like the new mouse emulation. And i hope you will be able to add support for the physical keyboard and mousepad on Asus Transformer Prime. But i realise it might be hard without the actual hardware.

I have a JXD S7100 which has plenty hardware buttons, but I'm out of luck exactly because of that "split touch events" stuff (as I don't have Android 4.0 on my device - and I'm not sure it'll ever have it)

@Xperia Play.
There are well-functioning CyanogenMod9 and AOKP (KangXperiaProject) ROMs for Xperia Play. Same with the original Samsung Galaxy S. Gingerbread is an outdated OS that's vastly inferior to Android 4.x, so if there's any way to upgrade, don't hestitate to do it. Both SGS and Xperia Play are capable of full speed Amiga 500 emulation in lo-res modes (without frameskip). The Omega500 project is not about versatility, it's mainly about simplicity and about bringing best possible touchscreen controls to Amiga 500 emulation on Android phones. If it succeeds, I'll start to care about other things, like tablets and physical controls. But it's not good if you try to focus on too many things at once. |

@galu
I agree. About upgrading roms, I just don't have very good experience with modded roms. |

Full speed.
Nexus 7 spec is good. 5 Cpu cores (including sleep core) and 1 GPU with 12 cores. Currently clocking it at 1.6GHz, just waiting for the 1.8 to 2GHz kernel to come out. I was running it at 1.8GHz for months without any heat issues, . |

Speed is not an issue with UAE4All-based emulation (a single core 1GHz Cortex-A8 from SGS1/Xperia Play is perfectly fine) but what about joystick controls on Nexus 7? Button size, etc.
I was too busy to work on the emulator during the weekend (and will be busy for a next few days), but I'll try to release another build tomorrow - with "emulation core" selection (UAE4Droid-based and "Fame/C") and button transparency settings. Then I'm planning to go back to work on a multitouch keyboard. |

Button size etc etc works well. Only problem I have is grid, it sort of snaps to grid. Makes it awkward to play isometric 3d games, like EFPORM and Colditz. Is it possible to have an analogue version, like Mame4droid? |

I don't think that these games support analog controls
There's a new "quick&dirty" build. Changelog: - Fame/C m68k core and disk emulation from AnUAE4All project (Alien Breed SE, Fury of the Furries confirmed working). It's NOT a Fame/C core from OpenPandora UAE4All "2.0", also no changes in chipset/gfx emulation. - old UAE4Droid core is still available in "Advanced Settings" menu (please note that the Fame/C and UAE4Droid savestates are not compatible, but the savestates from new core DO NOT overwrite the old ones and vice versa - these savestates use different file extensions) - button transparency settings (SGS3 users - send me some screenshots, please!) |

Will you implement the core from Pandora UAE4All 2.0 eventually, galu?

I don't have much time lately but I'll resume the Omega500 developement in about 2 weeks.
I hope that, besides the keyboard emulation (and lack of physical button support), it's fairly usable/playable - so I decided to put the apk on Play. You have to uninstall any previous build before attempting to install the Play version. https://play.google.com/store/apps/d...o.galu.dev.uae Please rate/comment on Play (but send me an email if you don't like something ) Additional info: http://dev.galu.info/omega500.html Maybe this could be moved into separate thread? Edit: just downloaded and also reviewed it. A separate thread on here would be great so we don't get confused with the other amiga android emulators. Last edited by Baboon; 20 November 2012 at 18:12. |
