blitz and booting your game

[Hi all,

I've been doing a game for about a month and it's going good but the compiled version did used to boot off floppy (even on an unexpanded 1.3 A500 config) but now it hangs after loading before going into BLITZ mode. It runs from an icon off HD in Amisys though. It's not memory as there's plenty.

It's odd, I tried compiling it with Old Blitz2.1 and AmiBlitz to no avail.

Any ideas?

[edit] I'm using WinUAE but the same happens if I try the disk image in WinFellow whearas is was booting before

that's what I'm thinking, wish I knew which ones, otherwise it'll be trial and error at the end.

It does sound like a file's missing. Compile the game with the debugger enabled and maybe it will give you an error message when you run it so you can figure out what's going on.

Do you have SnoopDOS?

I find that is an excellent tool for finding problems with missing libraries and files. The only problem is that you would need a working version of your game to run and then exit to workbench to see what SnoopDOS picked up. Perhaps you could find out the necessary information by just running another compiled Blitz program??

I'm sorry, I'm not into Blitz... but I do hope my suggestion helps.

the compiled version runs from amigasys, maybe snoopdos could tell me then...

snoopdos showed no problems but I reset and booted the disk in A1200 config with Kickstart 3.0 and got:

You should use SnoopDos to view which files/libraries your program needs:

- run SnoopDos
- run your program
- quit your program
- check the SnoopDos Log

Search any line that contains the name of your program and read the name of the file/library opened. Copy the file/libray in the floppy and try to boot the floppy.

Bye
Fabio

Try what DrCinicus said, if you haven't already.

It seems that this could be the error:

000E - Stack frame format error
