Hi:
It's more common to use a Compact Flash as Hardrive, with an adaptor like this http://www.ebay.es/itm/New-Angle-CF-...item19ce087d09 or this http://www.ebay.es/itm/CF-to-IDE-2-5...item25629199b4. For both perhaps (surely) you'll have to file a corner a little (not touching the traces) 'cause the RF modulator won't let you insert it. (I bought one recently, and I'm not sure if it fits over the sheilding, I don't think so). Or this (more used, including me) buying a cable: http://www.ebay.es/itm/2-5-LAPTOP-CF...item230440b637 The cable like this: http://www.ebay.es/itm/IDE-44-Pin-la...item19c30a72af Then you have to buy the Compact Flash (better SanDisk or Kingston or Trascend), make partitions, format it, and install Workbench, not an easy task. OR... you can buy this kit "ready to go", and tell them to format it with Smart File System or perhaps (surely the best) PFS3: http://amigakit.leamancomputing.com/...roducts_id=883 Later you will have to ask or read here about a ram board or accelerator to run all the games and demos. My advice would be to start easily... Last edited by Retrofan; 24 July 2012 at 23:53. |

NP. Thinking about it, it's like thinking to buy for the first time a classic car. I you don't know all about it, better buy the more expensive and complete one... So I would buy the last one (not car, -Lol- option) I told you.

Hmm, if you have the time and interest? you should have a go yourself with the parts linked by Retrofan, however sometimes it's easier to just buy the complete set-up.
I spent a whole weekend and umpteen posts on here trying to suss-it I did manage it in the end but it was a frustrating weekend The PCMCIA drivers seem to be the trickiest part going by the posts on here. |

Do you see, lee t? They are here, as I told you (Edit: no, sorry, I forgot to tell you). @Amigakit I already posted it, second post. BTW: Can you use PFS3 if somebody wants it, or just SFS? (I use both). |

After speaking to the guys at amigakit looks like I need to get some extra memory for my 1200 first. Looked on Ebay but there are a few and to be honest I dont know the one I need come somebody have a look and put the link to a sutable one that is on ebay so I can buy it.
Got to say this place is great. I never knew there were people who were this into the amiga and the thing I cant get my head around is what you all do to the amiga and what gets developed for them. Nothing short of stunning. |

You can look at Amibay http://www.amibay.com/ or at Ebay searching Amiga 1200 ram board or accelerator http://www.ebay.es/dsc/i.html?_nkw=a...LH_TitleDesc=1
You can also buy an ACA1231/42 new accelerator at Vesalia http://www.vesalia.de/ (I've bought one a week ago) or to wait some months that will be released new ram boards by Individual Computers. It depens on you, how much do you want to spend, etc. From whatever ram board with 4/8mb you can play WHDLoad games. Last edited by Retrofan; 24 July 2012 at 23:22. |
