Making ISOs out of my CD-ROMs

I thought about making ISOs out of my Amiga Games, Amiga Magazin and Amiga Plus Cover-CD-ROMs.

I also think it’s a good idea for a backup.

A lot of Amiga CDs seem to be fairly rare, so good idea. Then again, there were lots of CDs which were just PD shovelware, so maybe you would find a lot of duplication in your images...

Do you happen to have 17 Bit Phase 5? Or that Epic PD CD? And I think United PD had a 4 CD collection, as well. If anyone has these (even for sale), I am seeking them.

17 Bit Phase 5
you mean '17 Bit: The Fifth Dimension' (ie. the disc that followed on from 'Phase Four') then I can upload it if wanted & someone tells me where. BIN/CUE image is 355meg RAR'd.

Several users here have ftp sites, so I imagine they will come forward and offer up theirs. But if not, I have a private FTP for HOL use. PM me and you can use that.

And yes, your name correction is spot on!

Now what is the difference between an ISO, BIN and CUE? And which program do you suggest to rip my CD-ROMs?
ISO is all the data plus the cd structure in one file

BIN is just data

CUE is a file describing the contents of a BIN (i.e. # of tracks, mode1 or mode2, audio, ect)

To rip cds, I'd suggest using GoldenHawk's CDR-Win for windows (dunno what program on the amiga) and saving as a bin + cue file. The reason I would not use ISO is because a lot of Amiga cds will not copy over correctly to ISO. Mainly CDTV, CD32 and possibly a few others. A lot of magazine discs won't copy over correctly with ISO, so it's best to be safe than sorry.

Ok Twistin', I'll give people a chance to say the word in case they want it also etc. If not, I'll PM you in a few days & get the upload going.

CDRWin (ie. BIN/CUE) appears to be good for all the Amiga CD's I've come into contact with so far...if someone knows any better then I'd guess now is the time to say so.

No its just you being thick again

CDRWin version 5 is a completely different product to the normal CDRWins you have known and Ive never bothered with it.

best version for writing bin/cue files Ive got is version 4.0a.

www.blindwrite.com

By far the best, handles just about any cd image format

It can create images in just about any format too
