Amiga Power coverdisk 64 (Blob)
Is it just me or does this disk match the retail version exactly, and therefore still have the copylock? Because it seems to fail to run under a quickstart A500 configuration for me.
Can anyone confirm who provided the disk, and/or whether it was an actual dump of the coverdisk or of the retail disk? |

Hi MethodGit,
The coverdisk number is not 64, but is actually number 29 (Magazine Issue 29). The Amiga Power coverdisk 29 found on AMR is the real disk image of the coverdisk found on the Amiga Power September 1993 issue. I have this coverdisk in my possession and can tell you that the disk image found on AMR matches the one I have. I tried to run Blob from the Amiga Power coverdisk #29 image found on AMR and it worked fine for me. Did you download this image from AMR? The URL to download the image is as follows: http://www.guildserver.co.uk/AMR/ami...993_09_d29.adz Last edited by niobyte; 30 October 2010 at 13:23. |

Yes there is a demo on disk 29 but I think he's talking about the full game which was on coverdisk 64 (August 1996).

It came on the 2nd last issue of Amiga Power. The last issue included another full game. I wasn't aware of this fact. Unfortunately I don't have that coverdisk in question (I think). I analysed the image that is on the AMR website. It appears to be an ordinary DOS disk. It has individual file contents. Tried under WinUAE kept crashing. I might try dumping it to a real Amiga and see if the same occurs. |

Update,
Just tried the image on real hardware. It still failed. This time I received the following message: df0:blob Program failed (error #8000000B) Wait for disk activity to finish. Last edited by niobyte; 30 October 2010 at 19:47. |

I just compared the file contents with the original (Blob Retail).
It appears the file contents are exactly the same. I also did a checksum compare with the original game and the ones contained on the coverdisk. All checksums match. So, it would appear this also contains the RNC (Rob Northen Computing) copylock protection. I think the AMR disk image of this coverdisk should be updated with an Extended ADF image or an IPF (if allowed) of it should be made. Last edited by niobyte; 30 October 2010 at 20:33. |

Yeah, I did a file and checksum comparison too back then, hence me believing the disk hadn't been changed from its retail incarnation.
I'm up for seeing a hopeful IPF too (if it's possible), though I don't know whether an eADF could pass the copylock check - I'll give this a test. |
