Hey folks.
I think this request might be one of the hardest to fill as I'm stumped for any names; be it group or music. I'll try and explain it as best as I can. Firstly, the demo was one of the first I got way back in 1988/89. It was a very simple chequered/tiled floor background in a pale colour and a slightly darker one. I think there were mountains in the background. In the foreground, was a ball, I think, and it bounced across the screen in the typical mathematical line of probability return bounce etc. The thing that was striking about this demo, was the music in the background. I think it was a short, maybe 10 second guitar riff sample. It was pretty damned good and was in the style of classical rock; not too heavy, but a little faster than your average Pink Floyd guitar riff. That was it! The music was on an infinity loop. I think there was another demo on the same disc. The loading screen was a typical grey Amiga dos looking thing and then you had the option of pressing F1 or F2 or something like that. Does anybody even vaguely remember this? How about the name of the music that the guitar riff was taken from? I would be really grateful if somebody could help me on this one. |

The first demo I saw, I was probably 11, I remember had GREAT GREAT music and had a checkered floor. I vaguely recall an amiga model floating over the checkered floor or something like that.
However I remember a picture of Mona Lisa at the end, or near the end of the demo. I don't recall any more because of the age I was and the fact that I didn't know what a demo was ![]() Maybe we are talking about the same demo? |

Dazzaboy at OldSkoolUK may be able to answer this one, he is very knowledgeable on the Miggy demo scene.

Even though you might remember 1988/1989, it would almost certainly be an older demo, as sample loops in demos would have pretty much disappeared by 88/89.
There were not a huge amount of groups releasing demos with sampled loops in (relatively) so try looking at some of the older archives (zegs for instance) and see if a name rings a bell. I`d plump for 87-88 |

Hi, dunno if this helps but...
![]() The DOC demo "Demons are Forever" has a pale chessboard and mountains. http://bitworld.bitfellas.org/demo.php?id=238 But the music comes as far from a looped guitar sample as you can get, for a special reason ![]() Plenty of balls bouncing on chessboard at the end of Mental Hangover, there's a Quartex demo, neither have mountains. Our (Zeg's) archive is massive and mainly oldskool, but not all demos have been examined and proper descriptions to them yet. A group name would be very helpful indeed. Which was the most active demo group in UK before 1989? As the guys above said, I doubt it came 89 or later if it had a looped sample. Might it be a demo by OKS Import Division? |

Hm, have got one idea. Open your browser and jump to this
url. http://kestra.exotica.org.uk/demos.p...mple&where=any Than check each intro by hand. All those have got "samples" in use. bye bye |

If you could tell us what the bouncing ball was like, that would be of great help! You get all sorts of bouncing balls in Amiga demos, but the four major cliches remain the "3d ball", the "sin dot ball", the "rubber vector ball" and the "sprite ball", but there's a more than just a few variations for each type.
Basically everything you mentioned is part of a thousand different demos so don't hold your breath ![]() |
