I guess some simple implementation is not too boring task: store plain hardfile (non-RDB, must use any ROM resident filesystem) image in ROM and include simple "boot rom" module that automounts the hardfile like any hd controller boot rom does.

RDB would waste space and implementing full RDB parser in assembly is too boring (UAE uses native C code for that).

Perhaps some kind of build utility that takes hardfile path + other parameters (including device name and boot priority) and creates the rom module is good enough solution for this task.

Hardfile would appear in early boot screen normally etc..

The best way is to use a fat32 handler (we have Fat95 who is romable I think, anyone confirm ?) and the compactflash.dev (romable too ?)

All we need, dear Toni, is an hacked command Mount, romable who include the script CF0:

PLEASE TONI !!!!!

No, bad idea.

Generic bootable "rom-disk" is useful for many things. I AM NOT going to do anything specific (only boots from PCMCIA, only boots from network etc..)

It should be user's "problem" to configure it and include required files and drivers in "rom disk".

I am not part of "we" and I don't "need" it = why should I care? I only suggested something that I might be interested in doing, demanding something for free is rude.
