Tank Wars Deluxe - graphics required
Hello people,
I'm sure some of you are aware of this project that has been on hold for ages almost exclusively because I don't have any graphics to use. I really need some help now as I am determined to get this game out, for reasons that I am not willing to disclose at the moment. But really we need to get this out by mid to late February at the latest and it's really important to me that this happens. This is a two to five player single-screen game, where to all intents and purposes, you have to shoot each other. Last one standing wins. But I need help from somebody, somewhere... I need some tile graphics -16x16 pixels in 16 colours - for the game's maps and I need several different themed ones (i.e. desert, forest, arctic). There aren't very many and they need to be organised in a way that you can load a level with any theme and it will display fine. Also I need a few small power-up icons, and maybe some bullets and indeed some tanks (though not necessarily - I could go with what I've got - though a small explosion-type anim would be cool). Also not necessary but would look nice would be a small status panel at the bottom of the screen, and maybe a nice title screen too. None of it has to be spectacular by any means. I know it's all a bit vague but anyone interested post here or contact me and I'd be happy to provide more details and game files too. You can find the original Tank Wars on Aminet if you need an idea of what it's all about. This has suddenly become very important to me so if anyone could help I would massively appreciate it. Some pics of the original game so you have an idea of what it's about (WARNING! Crap graphics alert...) Thanks! |

Thanks Anemos - all ideas and feedback gratefully received of course!
Not so sure I'd want to make it slower to be honest - I think it would lose some urgency then - but if anyone thinks the same or has other ideas let me know - I'm not averse to implementing new ideas. Also I've already put in two new game modes - a standard FPS-style deathmatch (get as many kills as you can before the time runs out)and Thief, which is another FPS idea (well I nicked it from Timesplitters on the PS2) - everytime someone dies they leave a coin behind and it's who picks up the most coins who wins rather than the most kills. And anybody can steal the coin no matter who killed that person, hence the name. |

The thief mode sounds awesome, you really do need a mic then, just so you can laugh at your opponent when you steal 'their' coin.

I don't really want to steal someone else's work to be honest, and anyway I want this game to have its own identity and character
It's not gonna be a game up to the standards of the commercial releases in the early nineties or anything like that, and I'm not expecting it to look or sound like it either. But I'm putting in a lot of effort to update it and add new features and levels and it really could do with a facelift. |
