Will still be some stuff missing though

But I hope to get SOME life out of it with the PALs in place (and a freq crystal or 2 and maybe an FPU for good luck)

You'll surely need a Buster and a few other custom chips?

I said above that you could probably use the -10 instead of the -15

Sure, but I would hope that the buster/other chips might be found fairly easily. Well, at least compared to PALs if the logic wasn't available from Dave Haynie

Yeah... Buster, Ramsey and DMAC from an A3000

Although there's still 2 mystery chips (see top left sockets in picture)

@rkauer

I like your thinking there, I wonder if one of the 28pin sockets could be for the SCSI unit?

I suppose it's possible, but that leaves the question of "what type should the chips be" and "what was on them"

I've made an effore to contact Dave Haynie, but not really much luck so far.. anyone know how to get hold of him? (None of the "know" email addresses that I've tried work any more)

The SCSI chip is the long DIP running north south still in place on BinoX's board "wd33C93a"

If I were a guessing man... perhaps they are for 32-bit Kickstart ROM? They are 28-pin DIP chips

I read Zeet's post as querying if one of the 28Pin sockets was for a firmware ROM to drive the SCSI controller.

Could be for 32bit Kickstart but 28pin sockets would mean a lower capacity ROM too small for KS.

I think the Card uses the Mobo's Kickstart & these are the 32Bit firmware ROMS to run the card & SCSI, ie Card disable on startup etc...

Yeah my mistake 27C400 is actually 40-pin not 28-pin.

If that is true then it must be game over as these were (by all accounts) never written.

I can understand why you say that as the pcb was a prototype, however one would hope that some firmware, not final & probably buggy, was put together whilst the circuit was still at breadboard stage to prove the design worked.

If this does exist then who knows it may even be great big chunks of code lifted from the current kickstart at the time & possibly quite usefull.

I for one would like to see the board up & running & I bet If Dave Haynie can be contacted he would be willing to help as I've seen him quoted with fond memories of this project.

@Jimbob005: but not in the earlier stage when this board was developed. I bet it accepts an updated Buster, as an updated SCSI chip (the mature -08 version).

The other slot is probably only for SCSI ROM and even for some other features, like TC written.

I was reading Dave Haynie's paragraph on BBoA about the 2631... he states that the prototype was unfinished... wonder what he means by that??? I hope you get her working anyway..
