I never found the GVP to be blindingly fast on the 2000 when I had it... You're going to be fairly limited by Z2 bandwidth - it uses 4 clock cycles to transfer a 16 bit word (4 bits per cycle), so running at 7.14MHz that'll give about 28Mbit bandwidth, or about 3.5MB / s.
I've never run classicWB on my machines yet - really must try it, as a vanilla 2.1 or 3.1 install needs a little tweaking ![]() The idea of having a commodore accelerator and the commodore controller does sorta appeal to me though. "Pure" ![]() |

Well spotted...i corrected that before the cards went back in
![]() @Chiark, 3.5mb/sec is a hell of a lot faster than the C= card transfers, i need one realy thats capable of DMA transfers directly into the 32 bit fast ram as i believe thats what makes the C= card slow. You realy should give Bloodwych's Classicwb a go.....once installed...you never go back...it's simply outstanding. |

Cheers Doug, I'll give it a try!
![]() Out of interest, what sort of speed are you getting from the disk at the moment? I remember seeing around 1MB/s from the GVP and being exceedingly chuffed at the time ![]() |

I'll have a look on sysinfo later and let you know...if i'm anywhere near 1mb/sec i'll be astonished!

Advanced a little more with the a2000, installed ClassicWB ADV and it runs like a dream...thanks again Bloodwych
![]() I've mangaged to find a compatible simm to fill the last slot of the DKB so its now maxed out with ram and was happy to find the 2000 is already set to output pal...not ntsc as i thought. I have a 2mb chip ram expansion enroute for it but it needs the agnus...so thats my next mission ![]() Last edited by DoogUK; 14 February 2009 at 18:19. |
