Kickstart Switcher
Anyone had tried one of those Kickstart switchers on an A600? (for example http://cgi.ebay.com/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI...tem=2007587193 )
It is easy to install it? With a Kickstart 1.3, will 99% of games work fine? Thanks in advance. |

Yep, it´s really easy to set up Just remove your Kickrom from thge Mainboard and put it (together with the second one to switch) on that thigy, after all, put that thingy into the original Rom Slot on the Mobo, now you just have to find a way to fit the switch on your case

Aren't the chips inside the A600 (and A1200) surface mounted? I think this would make it a little harder if you are not confident messing with chips and solderings.

I think that's why I never installed one on my A600... the switch... :P where would I put it? Im in no way drilling a hole in the case (like Ive seen in many A500s!).
If you have 2MB of Ram Uukrul, I suggest you to softkick. Works the same! |

Yep, at least 95% of all games will work afterwards.
Only some very old games will still refuse to work, even with kick 1.3 because they need to have 512k only and have problems working on the A-600's 1MB onboard. Maybe there is even some which need Kick 1.2 to work ? And then there is this one special game that will not even work on all A-500: Double Dragon II ( needs Agnus 8371 ! ) But don't be afraid, get the switcher ! It is worth the effort ! |

I have an old rom switcher board made by I believe was DKB. Seems to work good in an older A500, Rev.5 board. I even modded this one to have the 1MB Agnus and it has the ram expansion board from ICD that holds 4MB of DIP ram. I think that there were two leads that when to the Gary and Denise chips to control the switching, don't quote me on this as it's been way to many years since I've opened that box up
