In the shadow of time install problems
I am trying to install In the shadow of time with the included hdd installer from the AGTW web site.
I get this error 6% into the install: Sorry... An Error Has Occured! COPYFILES: Problem with source file/drawer "Shadowoftime_german" in line 245. Dos Error Type: Unable to locate a file or drawer. Proceed Anyone had this problem? I am using winuae and a fresh install of WB3.1 and I unzipped the original file on my workbench hdf with a basic 1200 config with a but of extra fast ram. edit: I can run the game but due to it not being correctly installed I cannot save, Now I know I can use winuae save states but I would like to put this over to my amiga eventually. second edit: I can change the save dir to a floppy disk in the prefs but the game by default will look in the gamedir so I cant load from the floppy drive at the start of the game. I cant see how using snoopdos could help. I tried copying over the dir created on the floppy to the gamedir but my save doesnt appear when I try to load from the gamedir.

I just had a quick look at the installer script, it tries to copy a file called "ShadowofTime_german" in line 249 which apparently doesn't exist. Just remove that part from the installer and the install works fine. Line 249 should look like this:
(choices "ShadowofTime" "ShadowofTime.guide") for the installer to work correctly. Dunno if that fixes your problem with the savegames though. Edit: Just tried to load/save, works perfectly. |

Cool thanks sting ray, it seems the installer isnt nessasary, if you just extract the zip onto your hdd and create a folder called Savedgames in the extracted dir saving and loading works. I did originally try copying my savedgames dir from the floppy it created but I must have put it in the wrong place.

Excellent. Maybe the installer available on HOL should be edited (with permission from the author I suppose!)
Does this mean a german version exhists too then? (or was planned?) |
