Kickstart Rom 1.4
I have recently come across a Kickstart Rom 1.4.
When I boot it says: 1.4 Alpha 15, Do not redistribute Copyright 1989 Commodore-Amiga, Inc All rights reserved. The screen dispalyed is much like that of the 3.1 Rom Anyone knows what it is and what it is used for ? |

It is used in older A3000s to have an os, so kick2.0 or kick1.3 can be softkicked from the harddrive. I think it loads the file DEVS:kickstart per default from the system partition.

He's talking about the Alpha 15, not the later 1.4 (which looks more like 2.0) used in the A3000. Check it out here.
I tried Kick 1.4 with WB 1.4 in my A1000 to get the nice "boot from DF1" feature (and for the neato boot screen), but unfortunately 1.4 is buggy and slow and causes most software to crash. It is basically useless. I went back to 1.3 on my A1000. Last edited by mr_a500; 14 June 2006 at 17:43. |
