load filesystem folder to hard drive on workbench (1.3) on linux

hallo.


running fs-uae 3.1.68


looking to mount a folder from linux to workbench desktop,


however when I select a folder in the launcher hard drives menu the directory is blank in workbench (1.3) once loaded,


though there is a file present in the directory (demo downloaded from scene.org)





is there some configuration I am not seeing? would be great to get this system working.

Kickstart 1.3 has no way to see or use a harddrive like device, only floppys, Kickstart 2 and above all have support for harddrives.

Workbench 1.3 HDD install under amiberry....



Same install, added the directory 'tester' as DH1: (requires emulator reset) ... fs-uae should work largely the same.

Workbench is not a file explorer. You can think of it as a certain kind of start menu. Workbench only shows icons. If your harddrive does not contain any icon files, Workbench won't show anything.

If you need a file explorer, you should use a program whose purpose is to explore files. Like Directory Opus. Version 4.12 runs on Kick 1.3.

Like giantclam shows HDDs work fine with KS 1.3. I think one of the reasons for 1.3 was that 1.2 wasn't able to handle HDDs? Might remember that wrong though.

ah right, i remember the a590 my uncle had on his a500 didnt boot into workbench 1.3, his always kicked up workbench when he used his kickstart switcher and it booted up into ks2.x i probably mistook that as being a500+kickstart 1.3 = no booting workbench from hd.

1.2 does not boot from HDD.

1.3 + A590 works well. Must have been a misconfiguration.

If everything else is ok but only WB 2.x is installed on the HDD, then Kick 1.3 stops at the DOS prompt telling you "this disk requires kickstart 2.0 or higher".
