Games that write on gamedisk?

Wondering if we already have a list of the Amiga games that mandatory require the gamedisk(s) to be writtable, to store ie settings or highscore

i have encountered SoccerKid and Virocop just recently, finally playing the originals

EDIT once i added the thread, this appeared lol

https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=22601

EDIT x2
about Virocop, it's imo interesting to know that the world saving doesn't work on the cracked copies, just with the original
with the cracked copies you need to use the trainer to start at the begin of later worlds, on the original it does saves on disk and you will find the option on main menu instead

that list include the 'whatever' saving criteria, like settings or highscore?
or just ingame savings related?

It does mean only saved games, not settings and high score tables. We might add a different entry for the highscore table saving games.

That list seems to be missing a lot of saved games, especially RPGs, eg. Demon's Winter, Phantasie 1 & 3.

The list is very likely incomplete. We could use this thread to fill in the gaps. Would be great if people could add the info if the save feature is limited to the game disk or if a blank disk can be used too.

maybe some titles included in the old thread should be checked and also added

---
The Plague does saves highscore and highscore background picture (used also ingame) on disk

Uridium 2 does saves highscore and reached world, to restart on the further worlds after a reset

---
TCD, i'm not sure about why Darkmere is included into the hol list atm
iirc you must format a custom disk to use it as a save disk, no savings on the gamedisks

If somebody can confirm that this is the case I'll change the information on the HOL entry.

almost sure also Cannon Fodder 2 and Millennium2.2 also doesn't save on gamedisks, i'll let you know as Darkmere

do you think Virocop should be included? or Uridium2?
the savings on disk 'unlock' the later levels, to let you can restart from those after a reboot

I don't really have the time to check what those games actually do or not. I'll ask if somebody else from the team can verify the info on HOL.

i think the saving on the original disk has been a true pita for the SPS team back in the day

please anyone reports here if do you remember other titles that write on the gamedisk

i think i will add a list on the first post if you think could be useful, using also the other thread entries

Ultima V. To make matters worse, it's a copy-protected disk and seemingly prone to corruption. I lost my saved game due to this at one point.

Titles like Eye of the Beholder are not copy protected and in the manual they advise you to play from a copy, so it's not so bad.

It would almost make sense to put a copy-protection on the original disks and have the game check it on boot. If the protection passes, it aborts and tells you to play from a copy. Sort of ironic, but would prevent people from wrecking their originals. Or maybe just physically remove the write-protect switch from the floppy.
