Yeah Apple went full PPC BITD, but many apps/games were still "fat" executables (68K+PCC) until 2000 at least.

Settlers2 was fat exe, f.i.
I remember I still had many Fat games and apps on my iMac G3/400 back in 2000/2001.
That definitely would have been an exception as the gulf between a 68040 & G4 is quite large.

I remember Command & Conquer came out before Z and that was PPC only, the only outlier that I can think of that is somewhat similar is Warcraft II on Mac which works on 68040.

Would be interesting if someone could find an actual dump of this 1998 Mac release of Z so we could check it out.

Of course it does not, but at a first glance it looks quite similar to CF's assets what is in Z.
When I watched a vid about the Z gameplay I felt that I saw something similar in CF, and as this viewpoint is in Chaos Engine, Jurassic Park, Xpedition and Virocop too, besides with other titles, the emphasis is on how it shows similarities with CF for me.

Ha, you're right! Apologies both, I'm clearly not paying enough attention myself

That's interesting, I can't find an actual box scan for the Mac version of Z... It must have been a rare release indeed.

I would be very surprised if commercial Mac game released in 1998 would still be 68k.
From memory a lot was still released as 68k or Fat binary around then (Settlers 2 is an example I bought myself back then to play on my Amiga). After all, the 68k Performa wasn't discontinued until 1996, and Mac OS 8.1 (68k) was released in 1998.

1997 still saw a few major 68k Mac games (Civ II, Master of Orion II, Settlers II), but in 98, only some edutainment and shareware games were 68k.

...but Napalm IS more fun and doesn't run well on the Mini. Maybe an RTG version of AMiNIMiga will help to get it playable?

Thank you Interesting that they didn't switch to PC because the game wasn't running well on the Amiga, but because the Amiga 'was dead'.
