Defender of the Crown CDTV No Sound in AmigaOS

I'm experimenting with the CD32 Emulator and found that Defender Of The Crown CDTV cannot play with sound or music.

Im confused as to why this is happening, is there a bug with the Emulator. Bug with the Game in AmigaOS or something else?

The game works with music and sfx in Standard CDTV Mode, but in data mode, all sounds are mute?

This topic has been raised from at Sugo77 https://www.lemonamiga.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=19407

Just thought I could raise it here to see if some smart folk can figure out why it's happening?

Here's my CD32 HDD you can boot from, then just mount any CDTV game to test

BTW Sound Issue wih CD32 Emulator for DotC behaves the same way with WinUAE & Mister FPGA

** Purpose - To Play DotC on my Mister FPGA in A1200 Mode (As it doesnt have a CD32 or CDTV Core to play them yet)

Is the sound CDDA? Audio tracks on the CD? If it is you're out of luck. There is no current way to play the audio except emulating the CD-ROM HW audio mixing and I don't believe MiSTer Amiga core supports that

It is not possible at the moment.

You need someone to update MiniMig core for MiSTer to support hardware CDDA audio mixing for ISOs.

This must be possible and relatively easy because it works in other cores (Playstation, MegaCD, Saturn, TurboGFX, AO486 etc.)

Someone big in the MiSTer team (sorgling) should be able to add this for MiniMig

Once CDDA audio mixing has been added, you will still need to install the CDTV/CD32 emulator from IDEFix97 to get this to work though I imagine as it is only emulating A1200 + CD-ROM.

In that thread someone states they added CDDA support to MiniMig and I can see that his PR has been merged.

But I see it says DoTc CDDA not working... Possibly the disc rip isn't correct. Do you have an original disc?

What happens in WinUAE if you try to run this game using A1200 + CD-ROM configuration and IDEFix97 CDTV emulator?

WinUAE behaves the same way, no sound......

There are many games both cd32 and cdtv that work with sfx and audio on mister and in winuae with A1200 + CD-ROM config..

So I can't figure out why this particular game behaves this way?

Analyse the original disc format. Look for stuff like subchannel information etc that might be missing from any rip

Is the IDEFix97 CDTV/CD32 software the only software for A1200 to play that software? Maybe try a different tool?

Install AsimCDFS by Asimware to play CDTV titles like CoTC II, Idefix CD32 emu doesn't support them.

No... Same Issue, Game loads but no sound or music..

Only way to play DoTC is via WHDLoad which has no speech... Unfortunately getting the CDTV version to work is sitll a problem
