Hi Demo Maniacs.

I am curious whats up with that Demo.

It should run on every AGA Amiga with 8MB Fast-Ram; but it stops in the middle of the Demo on a black screen;
Music keeps on playing.


Tried various things; no luck so far. Hmmm.
Why ? Any Ideas ?

Hmm a dirty hotfix or Whdload slave would be great

Did you try a configuration with FPU activated ?

Doesn't need FPU, but rather seems like a timing thing.

What system are you running it on? If it's WinUAE try 040 instead of 020/030 and/or "cycle exact mode".

Don't feel like debugging it, but seems like it gets stuck in some loop that you can just break out of

Usually i use a 68020 Setup in Fpga, same in Winuae.
It does work in 040 uae; not on Mister & Stuff, you know.

Guess I can see if it can be easily patched. I have neither Mister FPGA nor whatever you mean by "stuff", so will have to assume if it works on WinUAE 020/8MB it'll also work there. ("Only" have 060 and pistorm A1200's to test on, and it works there).

Works in WinUae in 040 mode; but it shouldn´t need the 040. hmmmm

A fix would make this Demo more accessible, for all those various systems. *below*

i Could test it on MiniMig Fpga (Mist).

Stuff, means (4me), other Amiga Configs, other Fpga´s, various real hardware setups, various Emulators/configs n´ so.

that work well here in 030 + fpu , cycle exact, 4mb chip and 32mb z3 fast, cpu frequency x8 in CLI mode with last version of winuae for info

Always seen it as a 060 demo as it was released @ Mekka Symp 99.. Still rulez but 020/030 will be too slow for this in full speed i think ..

Runs pretty much fullspeed on a fast 68020 & 030 system with "fast" Fast-Ram.

My 68020 FPGA setup has (Sysinfo test)
Dhrystones: 12800
Mips: 13,33
ChipSpeed vs 600: 27

Runs pretty much all the 2x2 C2P Stuff in fullspeed.

Same with this Demo; but stucks on a black screen at the middlepart

Try this with the "Force use of CPU C2P" option enabled. Place mathtrans.library and the demo executable next to the slave.

OK, so problem is with blitter assisted C2P. 040+ CPU detected -> CPU only C2P used so no issue obviously.

Don't quite understand code well enough to spot it, but problem seems to be either timing related or if some things happen "too fast". Works on pistorm even if I force use for blitter C2P, so not just "too fast CPU" thing.

Also in usual demo style it corrupts lots of memory in first part that I had to fix and use of overlay stuff is annoying for debugging.

Probably not going to look at it further, but would interesting to know if it works on real 020/030. (Think it should and they probably tested at least on 030).
