about Fire! (New Deal) game

this cheap 1989 game is making me thinking from quite a while now

mostly about its technical achievements, despite the 'budget' looking;
in specific i'm really curious how the coder reached in a so wide horizontal area, it does seems going in overscan, horizontally, but having some parallax layers

and a pretty fast scrolling too
i know there aren't many things on screen, yet...

this is a video of the game, but it is imo better to try it on hardware to see the wide area effect (ie the left 'empty' part that you can see in the video in reality is out of the screen) :

i'm not a coder so i'm posting here curious if some tricks were used to achieve that, or do you think it is nothing special instead?

if i remember correctly the source code is also included in the gamedisk

a bit like Defender, even simplier, just shoot everything
Cfou did the whdload install, but haven't tried it yet
