CD32 emu on A1200 graphical glitches

I've been trying some CD32 emu on my 1200 mainly to get CDDA tracks thru the RCA jacks of my external CD drive. Right now I'm trying Squirrel's CD32 emu
Here're some titles I could make to work:
- with softkicking to 3.1: Flink
- with 3.2: Beneath A Steel Sky, Disposable Hero
- not CD32 but working with sound finally: Genetic Species!

with graphical glitches:
- Bubba n'Stix: seems that something is happening with sprites. I've got some flickering garbage on the screen, a pity as it seems cool
- Super Stardust: less problems overall, graphical glitches happen from time to time, just wanted to try the shield button

What do you think could cause those glitches? ChipRAM availability? Requires Timing Fixes? The Blizzard 1230mkIV?

Thanks for ideas on what to try next

My setup is
Amiga 1200 rev 1.D4
No timing fixes
Blizzard 1230 MkIV with SCSI kit/96 megs
ZuluSCSI
Gotek
CD on SquirrelSCSI

Blizzard 1230 is the best expansion released for a simple A1200, it doesn't require any timing-fix.

Your glitches are probably due to 030 cpu.
CD32 games expect an EC020 instead.

It doesnt make a difference. It will run fine, I never had any issues with my 030 setup. Everything worked.

Should all work fine with Squirrel emu.

How are you running these. As I altered startup-sequence to check if there was a disc in drive, if so run the squirrel CD32 emu startup.
I also found WB3.9 CDFS was best for compatibilty.

Yes, as far as I know the biggest difference in between the 020 and the 030 is the CPU caches that you can turn off when running the emu, so it should be fine.

Good to know, the IDEFix CD32 emu as a bit more options accessible from the GUI, but I believe all those are tunable in Squirrel's cd32-startup file in S:

I do have the altered sequence as well. The Install script from the CD32 emu. It works great.

but with Flink, I'm running into what I believe to be a chip ram issue. I need to softkick 3.1 because of this, but that's ok if a bit long...

Ok I will try WB3.9 CDFS thanks for the tip
I'm using the CD filesystem & CD.device from the CD32 developper kit for now (supposed to be the CD32 one)

Blizzard for sure rocks

I did try to deactivate the Blizzard and booting from floppy, but it didn't remove the glitches.

But what I didn't do is to deactivate the Blizzard, softkick 3.1 and to boot from floppy... Maybe that would do the trick.

I will try that

This proberly cause of issues. Stick with squirrel stuff. cd.device in squirrel is dummy file pointing to real device, like on mine, I changed to scsi.device.
If I recall, I bypassed dummy file and used mount to mount CD0 in devs, using tooltypes to point to scsi.device Unit 2.
Would have to check, as I still waiting on A1200.net to deliver my keycaps (so I can rebuild my A1200, CD32 setup.). Over 6 years and counting, .

Actually I just realised that it's not possible to use Blizkick without the Blizzard, my bad

CacheCDFS didn't change anything either...

The only thing that helped so far was to use Blizkick to 3.1

R-type II, whdload version also glitches like crazy on my 1230.
I have another 1200 with a 060 and this one plays it without the glitches, who would have thought. The motherboard is a reAmiga 1.5. I think I might try it with the Blizzard 1230 to see if it changes anything, it's my only lead right now ...
