Pretty good quality for the photo of a screen. But if so, who took it? For me it cannot be from the Amiga introduction ceremony video because I already tried to do it some years ago, and in my memories it was impossible to extract such a clean picture and so the why of my initial remark.

So a screenshot of ProPaint running in an emulator with the original file and released by the person organizing the sale?

Anyway the quality is perfect and this why I think it's an image we never saw before but it's true we can see the scanlines, which is part of the image rendering for me. I'm not sure it will be the same fun without.

..personal tangent ~ before this was done, I'll always remember Debbie Harry throwing up at a Brisbane venue (the curry shop) in '79...priceless mental image, everyone was really smashed at the time... =)

'Just'? In 1985 that was state of the art (pun intended).

No, it was PaintGraph which was more buggie, deluxepaint did not exist in these early days. Paintgraph Was extreamly buggie with the fill Operation

Or graphicCraft was the name?

Oh indeed it was a very early alpha of Propaint which was very buggy. Seems Warhol was very fortunate that the stunt went without hitch.

I was being a bit flippant with the use of the tech of course, it was very impressive in 85 and the image itself is utterly iconic for us Amigians

You raise a good point though. I have found that when new tech comes around, established artists do flirt with the new toys, but they lack the skill or understanding to produce anything meaningful. It is all obvious and simple executions that almost anyone can produce.

It takes time to learn and understand the new tools, and often the ones who end up making great art are the ones new to the entire art game, not the establishment.
