There's a reason with old stuff you don't ask, and just dump on archive.org or bitsavers

I would agree, if it where not for the fact, that one of the IP holders i considered a good friend, to which i made a promise a longtime ago. And another IP holder still have a product in active sales.

Hope it's the other and not your good friend that ignored you / put you on ice.

Ah well then in that case it's probably fine. You should let it die, there's not a lot of point preserving it anyway with the new Amilator and suchlike available now.

2500 Eur to get Umilator demo out the door? That's actually pretty reasonable. Could set up a GoFundMe or similar to gather the needed money.

I must be the only one who finds licensing a bit weird :P can't fathom paying 2500 eur for a demo of a product, a /novelty/, to be released, especially paying someone who had no hand in building the demo and which happened years before that person owned any IP.

Have to agree here.
It seems Jens is just trying to milk the situation, to get some worth out of his P96 purchase.

AND furthermore, as I haven't heard from Bernd in a very long time, which I think is partly Jens fault, I can not support this initiative.

Trust me, €2500, for a demo CD that can not be used for ANYTHING, outside of the novelty of seeing what it looked like 20 years ago, is not that great a deal.

If Jens was never paid for Amithlon P96 usage, it's of no fault of Bernd, or Umilator. and they/that should not be held ransom for it.

Also: Jens is not the only person to have a stake in the software on this CD, There is also the current holder of Amiga IP, which could block the release, or take legal action.

Not gonna lie that some greedy BS behaviour right there: "Ahh yes, let's charge a niche within a niche community 2500eur so they can use a demo of an unreleased product." Good lord, I've NEVER seen this greedy behavior happen in other preservation communities. Imagine if Volition charged money when they released their unreleased PSP saints row game.

Yes, he seems to have gone of the Trump end.

"Not enough people showed up, so now I will never support this."

I would rather support a GoFundMe, to buy P96 of from him, and then make it OpenSource or just make it Free for all.
