External USB Keyboard hopefully wireless on A1200 possible?
Sorry if this has been asked before. I did not find much when trying a search for it. Anyway to add external support for a USB keyboard hopefully wireless to a 060 based A1200 in its standard factory case. I have a nice 060 1200 I got recently but its keyboard is MIA. I like wireless keyboards anyway so would prefer that solution instead of trying g to get built in keyboard fixed.

There is AmiKey1200 from Sordan, and SUM A1200 from 7-bit, the latter seems to be out of stock though.

I have my eye on the AmiKey1200, but I'm unsure about the clearance between my Mediator SX and the pins that stick up from it. Perhaps I can get a right angled USB connector as it will be attached to a USB PCI Backplate in my Power Computing Power Tower.
I currently have the PC-Key 1200 (I think) which came with the Tower and plugs into the keyboard connector slot next to the U7 chip that the aforesaid goes over. It has a AT 5-pin din socket, so I have to use an AT to PS/2 Keyboard adaptor and then the keyboard, so you can imaging how long it sticks out. Amiga kit sell the Lyra 3, but that still goes to PS/2 but I wonder if you can put a cable to USB back plate on? I presume the wires are slightly a different way around? I spotted the Sum A1200, but it's quite expensive in comparison to the AmiKey1200. The AmiKey1200 includes a USB header pins as well as a USB socket that you can fit a wireless adaptor. I may get one when the shop returns from holiday mode. |
