RGB2HDMI overscan resolution
I have that a500 that I installed RGB2HDMI into. I'm very impressed at the implementation and I think it work very well on that 19" 1280x1024 LCD monitor. 1280x1024 is an integer ratio to 320x256 and 640x512 so it's wonderful on the workbench where I mainly load module playlist and enjoy some Amiga music.
Since I also added a gotek to that a500, I have collected a great amount of musicdisk and demos .adf that I enjoy to load, making the a500 a kind of jukebox. My understanding of the "problem" I face here is that back then people would use overscan area to gain access to more display area. Then of course this is cropped from the RGB2HDMI and not displayed on the LCD monitor. I think the practice became so popular that is was considered a given to use that area and most demos and musicdisk suffer from it. But maybe I am wrong. Since I dont work very much on the a500 and mainly use it for music listening, I though an easy fix to it would be to upscale three times the resolution instead of four. The image would be a bit smaller but it would suffice and shield me for those overscan usage. So 320x256 would give a 960x768 centered image on a 1280x1024 monitor, but to my surprise I have not been able to achieve it. Would people be so kind to share how they setup their RGB2HDMI and how they addressed that situation. Thank you |
