PSU went pop.

My Apower psu went pop and my 1200 shut off. I was expecting it to be more serious but it seems to just be the power supply unit. I get a dim light in the power led on the psu but no lights or power to the Amiga. I opened up the psu to see if there is a fuse but no luck and I don’t think the led would light. Just curious what happened really. I can see some beige residue around some of the components. Did one explode? No way I’m skilled enough to repair dangerous voltage stuff. Lucky I have another.

There's a fuse near the mains connector - it has T2A written on it. But it's not as easily replaced as a common cartridge fuse. And, as you say, you're unlikely to even get a dim LED if that was the fault.

The residue is just glue that's used to secure tall components to reduce the risk of them being damaged if the unit is dropped.

Replacing the entire module might be an option for you - these units often use a Meanwell RPT-60 module (and the specs of that unit match those on the A-Power page of AmigaStore's website), but that doesn't look like that module. If you take it out, there's probably a name or part number on a sticker or the PCB somewhere. Such units are usually pretty cheap.

I take it the unit's not under warranty any more?

Thanks @Daedalus for the information. Unfortunately it’s out of warranty by a few years. It’s my newest power supply as well (4 years old) Good old A500 og lasted 20 years!
