The only time I travel is me driving my classic car so it won't get used much.

I hear good things about new LCDs for Lynx though so maybe in the future when renovations on my house finish forever, who knows.

Warbirds is super fun, if Sega did a WW1 bi-plane combat arcade game.......

Gauntlet on Lynx put me off buying it back then interestingly.

Can't you just get a crappy Android phone or something? There's Retroarch on the play store, which has an Atari Lynx core

I have a smartphone (Xperia) but I don't want to tap the screen or use a separate bluetooth joypad which I would have to purchase and never use for anything else really. If I was going to go the Android route I would spring for a dedicated handheld gaming device with controls built in.

Is Android Lynx emulation any good BTW? Not really investigated.

There are some on AliExpress at the moment around the £40 and reportedly are ok upto PS1 / DC / N64 level and below. Should be ok for Atari Lynx.

I think they are these, but the RK3326 looks a bit underpowered https://r36s.co.uk/

Even my GP2x from 2005 can emulate Lynx games full speed, you don´t need a lot of CPU power to do that ...

Really I am out of touch with what are good emulators these days, could see if there is something for my Android TV and take it from there. Doubt my TV is even as powerful as my 2016 AMD A10 PC so should be a good measure of what you can expect on the latest Android devices on places like Ali.

Should really check ebay too.

Android TV - Use RetroArch and possibly LaunchBox front end if you want eye candy look.

Some useful tick and tips on how to find optimal emulator for platform you can run on your box.

Last week I tested Batocera and Recalbox on computer I was gifted couple of weeks ago. (Mini computer) Will test LYNX emulation since I never played it (or even seen device here in USA).

Just checked, Recalbox has 2 emulators for LYNX, both are RetroArch cores and it requires LYNX BIOS. (Libretro Handy and Libretro Mednafen_Lynx)

Tested it on a PC, Recalbox and Anbernic handheld. All of them work quite well with the game you want.

I own WarBirds and an Atari Lynx, it's a fun game but not as fun as Shadow of the Beast (For Lynx).

Thanks, will test that next. Seems I rock this game.

I never was fun of SOB games, somehow I was dissapointed with gameplay on Amiga.

Which Anerbic model is that? The 35xx is about £55 but people on Reddit said Lynx was tricky after a quick google but I don't remember how old the posts were, was the only result Next model up is £100+.

There was a YT video of somebody installing Retroarch on the same TV as I have so hopefully should be a breeze. Need to get a bluetooth gamepad for the TV first.

There was a nice F1 game for Lynx too IIRC.

Without a Zipstick I can't get far on Beast lol needs an arcade quality stick for me really.

That one is RG35XXSP and it is currently going for 60 USD. All Anbernic devices are capable to play LYNX games since they all have RA as base. It was just matter of placing rom in correct folder and rebooting device to read game list.BTW, it already came with BIOS set up. With those you can also connect BT controller and connect them to TV, but I never bothered to try it. (I have too many RPIs and small computers)

This one is not customized in any way, I am using their OS and firmware, but usually bit later there will be release of customized firmware that might cover even more systems. (one of main reason I got it, to play with OS bit later) They come loaded with retro games.

I know even Amazon Fire TV stick should be able to play all of 8 and 16 consoles and most of 32bit one. Good luck with your android TV.

I had a cheap r35s, it played everything I threw at it up to gamecube, but having spent a significant time with it I can only implore you not to bother.

Get a proper sized handheld. Like odin 2, orange pi neo if it ever comes out or push the boat out and get a legion go.

Getting a legion go was the best choice for me as battery life doesn't matter that much for me. Just use it when out and about waiting for the misses

All of those are far from cheap, and in that case Steam Deck might be even better option.
