I wonder how many of theee have already sold. Nice to see that a high volume product will finally get some sales in for AmigaKit after the long delay and low volume of the A1222.

Octamed was the first thing I used on the A500 in 1991, Version 1.0, RBF Software, it was on Amiga Format Dec 1991 cover disk, I love the 4 track tune on it, it gives me goosebumps when I play it... I still have that magazine with its cover disks, the only one I have kept, I only ever brought them for the cover disk, was not interested in what was in the mag, was not that great at read at the time, better at it now and use to buy them because they were cheaper then buying the whole game, have more demos disks then games.... Once they stopped adding a demo disk to mags I stopped buying them, was not willing to pay £5.99 for a mag without a demo disk, they should now release Amiga mags with demo disks on them again so if its a pdf version of it, it comes with a adf version of the demo disk... because it about nostalgia so not just about the mag.
Most mags I brought had cover disks on them, Amiga Format, Mega Power CD, The Official PlayStation Magazine.

The following software updates for the A600GS have been uploaded today through the in-built live update system. They are available to download for all registered AmiSphere users:

46.1.765 (19.07.2024):

Fix USBMount Config issues causing quirky file permissions on USB drives

46.1.763:

Add a short delay before initialisation GPIO to allow the low level drivers to finish startup. Should fix DB9 Joystick initialisation.

Add Restart Menu option to shutdown to allow a rapid soft restart of the main A600GS Menu.

Changing model in a class with no memory options (eg AmiBench) would cause a segfault. FIXED.

Internal fixes and improvements to the build system.

The A600 GS is the evolution of the Amiga, the Arm SoC is based on a FPGA SoC a system on a Chip, it tool 30 years for the evolution of the Acorn Archimedes to catch up, thats what ARM is so it could be powerful enough to emulate a Amiga on a device like on the THEA500 Mini, that why they are made now, its the next level...

FPGA uses reconfigurable logic gates to work like the real chip its been programmed to be, at switch on (i.e Minimig custom chipset). SoC is more simular to ASIC, neither of the latter work like FPGA, as far as I'm aware.

I should of said its like not based... the C64 DTV is FPGA and has a simulated C64 on it and was made by the same people who made THEA500 Mini(Ironstone Partners are part of RGL now, they own half of the company, Darren Melbourne RGL CEO and Paul Gouge RGL CEO and Ironstone Partners is still alive because of the C64 DTV copyright and its joystick that was used on THEC64 Mini) so its evolution that's why they made THEC64 Mini(C64 DTV3) first, it was Darren's idea originally, I always thought the C64 DTV was American but its not, its British... it was just released in the US first, the NTSC version came out first.

You can use a FPGA to simulate a ARM SoC.... https://www.southampton.ac.uk/~bim/n...mable_chip.php

Given the right size FPGA you can replicate practically any digital logic. That doesn't mean FPGAs are anything to do with A600GS.

The C64DTV is not an FPGA it is an Atmel ASIC.

The people behind the design of the C64DTV ASIC e.g. Jeri Ellsworth had nothing to do with TheA500 Mini (or TheC64 Mini).

TheC64 Mini is a completely separate development by different designers. It too is not an FPGA it is an SoC ASIC running an emulator.

The A600GS does not contain an FPGA it contains an ASIC SoC containing a multicore ARM which emulates Amiga in software.

So in fact, this has nothing to do with FPGAs

Ok, I got FPGA confused with ASIC...oopss..
THEC64 Mini is connected to the C64DTV because it uses the same joystick, Darren Melbourne has all the rights including its C64 simulator to the C64DTV, so THEC64 Mini would not exist without it been made first and THEC64 Mini uses a ARM SoC because of the NES Mini, it started it all.
Anyway...

Interesting point of view. I don't see the connection. The Competition Pro joystick was widely used across lots of systems including the Amiga. It's shape is used in the C64DTV and TheC64Mini (although they are both slightly different). I would expect they are two distinct non-exclusive licences (meaning other people can also make things with that shape joystick) from Coin Controls Ltd. who own the rights to the Competition Pro name and shape. (But I don't know for sure)

I'd be amazed if that is true. He is down as "Co-Contributor" of the C64DTV on the Retrogames website. But I believe that wasn't the design (Which was by Jeri Ellsworth & Co) just the marketing.

Again I would be amazed if that is true. TheC64 Mini runs the open source emulator VICE and the development of VICE was written by people not directly involved with C64DTV. VICE also predates C64DTV.

The C64DTV is a completely separate design to TheC64Mini

Hopefully I get the A600 GS on Monday or Tuesday, then I make for video of it on You Tube as soon as I can...
