[WTB] Amiga CD32 PAL console
I suppose this isn't gonna be easy to get, but do anybody have an working Amiga CD32 PAL I could buy, can pay quickly via PayPal.
I get dizzy of ebay prices, or is this where this console is realistically placed in the price spectrum now? Naturally just plain console or with accessories are worth considering. Update 10 July: Found item on ebay instead, WTB is no longer active from me in this post. Last edited by StoneOakvalley; 10 July 2024 at 18:53. Reason: Updated WTB logic. |

CD32 FR model with RGB out. Looking pretty good, but not working well.
It got stability issues after a couple of months of use. I haven't found the root cause. Stability got worse over time. No controller, no power supply. You can get an old version of the Beast 030 with it if you want. No riser though. 60MHz CPU/FPU. 128MB RAM I think. No SRAM, no RTC. 2800 SEK + shipping. Check Tradera and AmiBay. Occasionally, you can get one for a good price.
The original factory surplus was sold more than 10 years ago for 80 GBP with PSU and nothing else. Those days are gone and since then, I would say it has at least doubled in value. If it includes original controllers this usually increases the price, even if they are not the best to play with. Some value the box greatly and for the CD32 it's probably relatively rare. You can buy a CD32 without PSU, there are aftermarket modern PSUs that fit in look. With a "riser" you can expand it. There are modern 68030 and 68060 accelerators, and they're not super expensive (compared to e.g. A1200 or A4000 accelerators). Unless you want to convert the CD32 to a development machine or generic WHDLoad Amiga, expansion is not necessary I think. WHD loses the CD audio, so the best experience is stock. TF 060 card must currently be turned off to boot from CD. I would expect to pay ~220 EUR for a CD32 with PSU and 1 CD32 clone controller, more with original controller. Sometimes they are sold as a lot including other things and then you have the choice of paying the higher price and selling off the stuff you don't need. CD32 has improved video output. If you have a TV with S-Video input you should get a nice picture. The RGB mod is a bonus that lets you connect a monitor, signal converter or capture card, and the picture quality is optimal. You can always PAL mod NTSC variants. Easy if you are only going to use RGB. |

Thanks everybody for tips and pointers, I have no problem paying up to 300 EUR for one really that is working even with no accessories. I want to use it as it was originally intended, no fancy stuff needed (at least not my plan right now). I will check out that Tradera site or AmiBay. I lost one yesterday on Ebay for 255 GBP, my max was set at 250 hahaha. Stupid 30sec bidding contest.
I bought one new back in 1994 here in Norway, but I have no idea where it ended up and its actually lost-in-action since 1996-97 or something. Still trying to figure out where it went :-) @Lunda The one for 2800 SEK looks interresting, but I'm concerned about what could be wrong with it. There is quite a bunch of unknown smaller components, as I'm more used to be fixing C64's. |

I've been running Doom on it for an hour now. No problem.
Only thing that is different from last time I tested it is the power supply. The machine is recapped and all the small components have been replaced. The CPU has also been replaced. I'll keep it running for longer tomorrow. |

Ahh, so maybe its kind of working still. Was confused by the "FR" words and the Beast thingy. So, its as original correct, no modifications apart from replaced components?
Still interrested in this one, just plain console, no extras needed. It also reads CD's correct? |

This is the Beast: https://eab.abime.net/showthread.php?t=115241&nojs=1 And now the bad news. After running Doom continuously for 5 hours, the CD32 crashed. After the first crash happened it could no longer read CDs, so I think the Akiko chip might be bad. And/or any other custom chip that can cause these failures. |

Ouch. I'll guess I will have to look elsewhere or wait to another sunny day for a CD32.

You can't delete this thread, but it would be nice if you could add the info that you found what you were looking for in the first post.

I might be interested in your console Lunda if I can get it cheap. I've been looking for a donor board. Where can I get a REV 4.1 RGB cable from btw?

I did however think the Z3660 I have for sale would generate some interest. I was completely wrong. Here you can buy the cable: https://www.amiga-shop.net/en/Amiga-...CART::776.html |
