It would be like many of the open source engines that can use the data files, like the many doom ports, or OpenMW for Morrowind, OpenRA for Red Alert / Dune 2000, etc.
Maybe we can petition the current owners for a purchase of the game as a new port if they allow it to be published? At least then they could get an estimate of how much potential cash they could get from the port being available. Not sure if perhaps it could even be a bundled game with new Vampire purchases or something.
