Amiga version of Chopper Duel released

Inspired by the Muzza's excellent Turrican 2 AGA I decided it's time to learn some Amiga programming with asm. First I thought about doing some kind of a demo, but then I remembered this old DOS game back from 1993. It is quite simple, but also fun to play with your friends or siblings. So I set my goal for making a 1:1 port of Chopper Duel for Amiga.

It should work on any Amiga with at least 512k RAM. I've tested it with A500 1.2, A600 and A1200 with 060. NTSC and PAL both should work.

I didn't get my keyboard reading routine work perfectly yet, so playing with two joysticks is highly recommended.

I tried to reach Addict to get his blessing for the port, and while I got some responses from persons with same name, I haven't reached the right guy yet. But I'm quite confident that he would be ok with the port and using his original mods in it.

I released a small update to the game today. Keyboard controls are now working properly as I rewrote the routine and I fixed an issue with the drop calculation which caused game not to end in certain situations. Also joystick now works in the menu, so keyboard is not needed anymore to start a game or return to the menu after game ends. Updated version available for download from itch.io

you could implement cpu enemy, so if we play alone, we can try a duel against Amiga.

nice game, i do love me some duel games, wasted many, many hours on them vs my cousin, spent a lot of time finding such things on good old CDPD/Almathera type CD's for such gems.

I’ve though about it and I have also some ideas for possible sequel, but let’s see if I have enough time for it. Thanks for the suggestion.
