Hi!, Some bugs to report

Hello everyone and especially Toni Wilen who is my age.
I don't speak English but I do understand it and even more so in writing. First of all, thank you for so much work to bring back good memories.
I have noticed a problem with the game James 2 Pond CodeName Robocod, when clicking (Cycle-Exact Full) this game loses sounds, it can be seen in its intro music, there are some sounds that are not there, the bad thing is that this option makes other games fully functional. Maybe there is something that can be done to make everything go well with this option checked.
Another thing I noticed is that in the Assassin special edition game there are some image glitches, I don't know what these glitches are due to, everything is always running on A500 quickstart (1mb ram).
Finally I see that in Aladdin AGA when you move the scroll the windows and images look vibrant, for example if you look at the windows of the houses in the game you will notice that they vibrate and look double or triple which makes it horrible to play, I don't know if it's configuration or a problem.
Thank you very much for everything, I hope it doesn't bother you and that the memory of the Commodore AMIGA lasts forever.

Hi there, you need to add some more details, such as, what version of WinUAE you are using, some details regarding your system, CPU, graphics and memory. And lastly, post the configuration file you use. Most issues are down to rather strange configurations and if they are using known good versions of the games that they are trying to boot. Are they disk images, WHDloads, off a HDD etc.

PC:
Z690 AERO G (rev. 1.x) DDR5
CPU Intel i5-13400 2.50 GHz (10 Cores)
RAM 32GB (16x2 Dual Channel) 4800MHz
GPU GeForce RTX 3060 (12GB)
Windows 10

WinUAE 5.3.0 (2024.06.01) 64-Bit
Configutaion:

Everything else I don't show because it is by default with Kickstart configuration.
The problem that James pond 2 Robocod presents with any disc that is inserted, be it .ipf, .adf, cracked or not, is that when we check the Chipset/ (Cycle-Exact full) box, some sounds of the game are lost, mainly the music intro, anyone can check this by simply checking the (Cycle-exact full) off/on box, "any deaf person" (joke) can hear that chords are missing from the intro music. And I say whether this will not have a solution since Cycle-exact is the most recommended configuration to have for the Commodore Amiga 500.
Note: This same configuration and problem happens in AGA 1200 with the A500 version of the game. It does not happen with the AGA .adf version, it seems that the game programming has different routines.

I've been circling this for a couple of weeks now wrt amiberry (which is based upon the latest WinUAE core stuffs), and can easily recreate this (I only tested the amiberry Preview branch, but I'm pretty sure it applies to amiberry v5.7.3 as well)...

...the issue only seems to manifest itself if machine_type=A500, but it could easily be in the 68000 emulation code...ie; the whdload pack JamesPond2_v1.3_1352.lha will also display this sound replay error, and that uses standard 68K staging. Other media types of the same title...ie; JamesPond2_v2.0_AGA_1354.lha .. JamesPond2_v1.0_CD32.lha (or the CD32 iso image), which use 68020 staging, are unaffected...(I'm not dismissing chipset emulation but I don't think so)...

TBH, this reminds me of the joke about someone going to the doctor, and stating "When I poke my finger in my eye, it hurts!", and the doctor replies "Then stop poking your finger in your eye!" ....same sort of bent ...if Cycle Exact (full) is causing problems, don't enable it, particularly if the title runs fine without it =) Or just use one of the other media types available for this Amiga title, that don't have this problem...ie; it's all the same game.... if the mission is to play James Pond 2: Codename RoboCod, this problem is not critical...<grin>...

There is very likely a bug here, but if I hoist a ticket in amiberry github, my testing suggests it's going to be flagged as an upstream bug in WinUAE itself, so someone (using Windows) should flag this in Issues on the WinUAE github page...(unless of course Toni catches eye of this discussion =)

The other thing to consider, is at the moment it only appears to effect a small number of Amiga titles..umm... Zarathrusta is another example... it will crash&burn your ship for no reason if Cycle Exact (full) is enabled.

HTH

I can confirm this but I won't debug this until chipset emulation rewrite is done (and if it still happens).

I am currently rewriting whole custom chipset emulation. It will remove most of the old code, replaces it with code that emulates it in more lover level (internal pipelines etc). This makes it much easier to understand (all the hacks and ugly special cases are gone, real special cases like DMA conflicts etc will "just work" automatically) and it will be much more simpler.
