Try to remove the card and clean the edge connector really well and try it. I had some issues with my PIV, just needed a clean. I used Deoxit Fader F5.

I only wanted to comment on the Monitor file. You don't need to move them to Storage. In Devs:Monitors/ create a folder called "Temp" or whatever name. Drag the monitor into it. Drag it out of it to use it full time. I use this method to switch between CyberGraphX 4 and P96.

A side note..You may leave all software for CGX4 and P96 installed when temp removing a monitor, they don't use the same libraries and and stuff. So, just swapping the Monitor files is all that's needed. I do that for my CVisionPPC if I want to play Amiga games and I'm using P96 because it doesn't just use my Picasso 4' (Flicker Fixer). I Have to disable the CVisionPPC or I only hear game sounds.

I hope you like the tip. Others as well that might not know. Now I'll read the rest of the thread.

P.S. It's something to do with the board. Since you didn't do any major changes, and it's a fresh 3.1.4 install, it's the card. I had to come to that choice from my X-Surf 100 failing recently. The lights blink when the eithernet is connected, but soon as MiamiDx is run and attempts connection *wham* total Amiga freeze. Using 3.5 and 3.2.2.. I wasn't that long ago it functioned well, but..even though it's Amiga hardware doesn't mean it's made as well as the older boards. Heh.

I hope you're able to fix it with soldering skills.

I've had my A4000 away for restauration. Got it back and it's working beautifully, until I double-click the monitor file for the gfx card. I had it moved into storage before when it started to show signs of failure.[...Snip...]

Well, here we are.

My 4000 is fixed, everything working as it should. Now tried the gfx card again but it still does the same, whenever I click on the monitor icon to initialise the card the computer freezes up.

So, even if it says "Working" in the startup board diagnostics it's not. It's definately the board because I've tested it in all zorro slots.

Anyone got an idea what might be wrong with it? Visually I see nothing wrong, not that this means much. I've been toying with the idea to change the VGA connector, not sure if that could be the problem.

If you can, try a 256M Zorro III memory card. My A4000D says it is 256M of Z3 space, but it only shows up as 32M after boot.
This addressing problem means that my CV64/3D, which also uses 256M Z3 space, crashes if you load the screenmode monitor file. YMMV.

Don't have any such card so that's gonna be difficult. No other ZIII card except for the CSMkII in the CPU slot.

It's worked for 25 years and now that my 4000 has been recapped and all other problems fixed, a new CIA and some other minor issues, the card still doesn't work.

Gonna test the card in another working 4000 to see.
