How would a remaster for OCS machines look like? Really curious about what you have in mind.

@Solo Kazuki : you are probably referring to the routines used by Hoffman in Cecconoid, based on [ Show youtube player ]

That make such a difference !

@Solo Kazuki: Yep, very easy to install on a hard drive. And yep, I plan to add features and fixes to a new game mode. The original campaign mode will stay (bugs and all) as well of course. I'm not sure yet about extra audio channels (unlikely, because the OCS version will use the same data) but the plan is to mix sfx with music.

@TCD: Current plans: It will be much smarter about using the system resources, performance will be better, and the gameplay changes imposed by the lack of resources will be removed.

Italian and Spanish will also be supported (though, not fully) for all versions. The original version only English, French, and German.

Perhaps consider an optional Midi out? A good few of us have invested in MT-32 PI and I imagine that it wouldn't be too much work to add MIDI out?

Perhaps consider Greek version as well to honor the Atreides who are descendants of Atree and Agamemnon ;-)

Seriously I think the main thing missing is a custom game apart from the campaign mode, with level of difficulties. I don’t mind the lack of commodities that came only with later games such a selection of multiple units.

Having never played this game in the first place, I'm backing this and will treat playing through this version as my intro to the game. Looking forward to it

If localisation isn't already a feature then it is certainly a nice to have. Retrofitting localisation into Ambermoon took a long time because it wasn't thought about.

Looking forward to this.
Fond memories of my mum, taking me to new Virgin megastore in cardiff for my Birthday and she bought me Dune2.

I have finished it a few times over the years.

I also really enjoyed Arrakis battle for dune. Wish a remake of that would happen, . Reason I bought a Voodoo 3 for the Transform and Lighting.

I think you mean Dune 2000? Or maybe Emperor: Battle for Dune?

("Dune: The battle for Arrakis" is the NA Genesis name for Dune II)

I think that on the Amiga the original game is Dune II : the battle for Arrakis, whereas on the PC MSDOS it is Dune II : the building of a dynasty.

The Amiga title seems more accurate to me.

"Dune II: The Building of a Dynasty" is the North American name and "Dune II: Battle for Arrakis" is the European name.

If you play the new versions in NTSC, you will get "The Building of A Dynasty". If you play in PAL, you get "Battle for Arrakis".

not heard the midi music from the pc version but i can say that i still actually quite like the chill ambient vibes from the amiga music, never really liked midi music, sounds too plastic and unnatural to me, an updated game as a whole sounds pretty good as long as the gameplay doesnt accidentally suffer due to improvements.

The Dune 2 midi tracks are pretty much top tier though. Klepacki really knew how to break through the limitations. With pretty much all soundtracks, Legend of Kyrandia and Lands of Lore are equally awesome.

Of course for Dune 2000 he created proper instrumental versions of the tracks so there is something for everyone to be had.

@Folks : I think that the following question has to be asked to all of you :

Who is actually using its A1200 with just the floppy drive + 2mb of chip + 68020 ?

I'm posing this here, knowing that almost all of us use at least a 68030 + Fast RAM on turbo board in 2024.

Please let know Bob what configuration you use, thank you.

You have an ambitious project. Thank you for your dedication to the Amiga platform. Hope you will be able to merge both part of the Amiga and PC-DOS on a "new" game full of entertainment

[OT] Do you know that before the TNT came out it was planned to replace NTCS by PAL ? (but it was cancelled and both get replaced by TNT). I always found funny the meaning that said, and was also used in professional circles : Never Twice the Same Colour [/OT]

@BlitterObject

Good luck with this man, it's an awesome project, I hope you find the time and will to complete it!

I'll just parrot two things others have asked for, midi out option and multiple units selection. If possible of course.
