Angry WinUAE freezes

The emulator freezes when changing discs.

[ Show youtube player ]

It happens with games like King's Quest IV, Questron II, ...

I use Windows 10.

What version of WinUAE do you have?

I tried with 5.3.0 and it seems to work fine, loading a savegame and re inserting the questron II game disk was ok, No impact with WinUAE?

I don't think it's to do with the adf's but I used...
Questron II v1.1 (1988)(SSI)[a].adf
Questron II (1988)(SSI)[save disk].adf

I just tried it. Still, it freezes.

My game is v1.1 too.

Do you use winuae 64 bit or 32 bit?

I use winuae 5.3.0 64 bit.

I assume GUI window also can't be moved?

Open windows task manager, right click winuae.exe, select create dump file. Compress it and email or upload it to some public share (send url via pm or email)

Thanks. Unfortunately it looks like Windows API MsgWaitForMultipleObjects() (wait for window messages) does not return which makes no sense.

Does it also happen if you start emulation to same config as you used with the game but without disk inserted, then enter and exit GUI multiple times (two tests: disk panel open and some other panel open)? If not, does it happen if you swap other disks?

Does earlier versions have same problem? (5.0/5.1/5.2) EDIT: No need to uninstall or install anything. Download zip packages and unpack only winuae.exe.

Gui can be moved until it freezes.

Bad news: 3.0 also has this issue. You need to play longer to note it.

Maybe you have some strange 3rd party windows extension? (like some explorer replacement or something). No one has reported this previously.

Anyway, it also might have something to do with winuae. Does https://www.winuae.net/files/b/winuae.7z still hang? (make sure it says "Public beta 0.1" in about panel)

There's an improvement.

42 minutes later, the emulator freezes again by swapping disks.

I was playing King's Quest IV.
