Darius, classic shmup,...not so much on the Amiga.

Any shmup fan knows the name Darius, quite an arcade classic to many which came with many spin-offs that were pretty good,...so what the F happened to the Amiga version?

Blocky, choppy, tiny play area with an oversized ship and if that's not bad enough "Uncle Art" has once again has graced us with incredible (yeah right) Power Drift, Street Fighter II, Turbo Outrun, Altered Beast sounding music, oh my ears!

Did anyone get suckered into purchasing this or even had the misfortune to receive this for a B'day or xmas gift?!,...you poor buggers!

by this time I was 100% "try before you buy" via many disk swapping pals so I knew it was shit for free.

Now i want to be honest: music is definitely uncle art-y but is not the worst of the bunch so far: it would need some fade or arpeggio to get more personality because right now is very plain though;
by the way thanks to youtube algorythm i realized that darius plus WANTED to be a port of the PC=Engine version but did fail

Certainly not worth £25-30. If it doesn't look like a PCE/MD game and have SNES type audio==shit Amiga arcade game IMO.

Probably wiped over my pirate disk to save 15 pence on blank disks lol

Biggest plus of the arcade was the triple monitor cinamascope style play area.

1280x512 mode AGA A1200 remake in dual playfield plus fake parallax sprite layer using the Sega MD reworked pixel art would be cool, arcade is about 900 px wide and 224 px high

I actually played the full 3 screen version of Darius arcade, without that exact extreme widescreen it's nothing special, but with that large play area it's pretty unique and playable.

They have the 2 widescreen monitor DariusBurst EX at the arcade club Leeds (and Bury also I think), that's quite impressive, 4 player

If the game was 3 screens, thus "The Ninja Warriors" on Amiga is a good example of what could've been Darius+ if converted with the same approach

It was too advanced for the time D+ came out - i would have prefered a more faithful PC-Engine port, but i wonder where the hell the player ship come from...

Apparently you can fly into the fish without dying so you can hit specific parts of it.
