RetroTINK 5X-Pro settings and tips for CD32?

I just got one of these units and am absolutely in love, what a top piece of kit.

With that said, the only machine that I have had some sort of trouble getting perfect image out of is the CD32. Anyone out here using this particular setup who can share some thoughts?

I am connecting the CD32 via S-Video, although the image is pretty much good, I have some noise on it, most noticeable on black levels.
Am I screwed for choice here and should just try to connect it via RGB? I would prefer not to as I like it having its own input.

What are your favorite settings? Anything special I should look into aspect ratio wise?

Which firmware do you have installed? Latest is v3.94. It's experimental but recommended. There were significant improvements for S-Video, with better finetuning too.

Yeah I updated to that.
But more in-depth tips welcome I guess. I don't even know how to "finetune it"

Have you checked the Retrotink 5x Pro Wiki?

I don't have a CD32 but my C64 with (S-Video cable) looks quite good. Sure my RT4K is a bit better, but the RT5X Pro should look similar. What noise exactly?

Under "SDTV decoder" you can finetune the whole SD image. Brightness, Contrast, Phase, Chroma etc. Aperture and CTIE are for Chroma/Luma sharpness. The "Y/C Filter" should look best on "4L Adaptive".

Why not get either a TF328 or say a TF330, both come with a riser that has a RGB port

Yeah but there's no entry specific to S-Video on a CD32. I'll have a tinker with the SDTV settings!

I have that, but as I mentioned, I want to have the CD32 on its own input. The RGB input is already taken by another device.

Noboby uses the RGB port exclusively for one device. Get a proper Scart RGB switch, problem solved. I couldn't live without it (have many retro computers and consoles).

Or buy an Amiga RGB to Component adapter (if your RT5x Pro port is still free).

And who says I don't already have one?

The unit is well capable of taking S-Video inputs, so WHY NOT use it? S-Video on the CD32 is pretty damn good, almost as good as RGB.

Well I'm really having a hard time with this S-Video connection, the CD32 is quite noisy, most noticeably on full "black" (Amiga dark grey :P) screens, I can see a little of noise and sometimes I also see some throbbing.

Not sure if it is the cable, a capacitor issue (this unit was recapped about ten years ago though) or the power supply.

I should try capturing the image to show how it looks, I haven't tried that with my RetroTINK yet but it should work fine, right? I have an elgato HDMI capture I can use.

I still don't get it. Why not using your switch? Just because the S-Video port is free? The RGB output quality on the RT5x Pro is very good. I used it a few years that way before i got the 4K Tink. The S-Video Amiga output might be ok, but RGB shines on the Tink. Especially with a good cable. They aren't really close. On a CRT maybe, but not via scaler on a modern TV. Well, the enhanced S-Video support via 4K tink (which routes s-video through the VGA port with drastically improved image quality) comes closer to RGB. But not a chance via RT5x Pro.
