New game - Ninja Carnage

Hi,

A new game is coming for our beloved Amiga computer by the group Resistance.

Ninja Carnage

This game is an homage to early text adventure games.

Your mission, to help a Ninja kill the yakuza boss. But there are two problems. First, the Ninja is very “bad ass”. He has a very special sense of humour and he thinks you are a total loser. He is very irreverent.

The second problem is that the final boss is hidden very deep in a temple and your trip will lead you through supernatural situations.

The gameplay is die and retry, meaning that each error will lead the Ninja to death.

There are 29 levels in the game. The texts are more than 10 000 words and there are 128 different deaths for the Ninja.
He got reasons to be angry.

The game is fully and humanly translated into 7 languages (English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Greek and Polish).

The story is based on japanese culture, historical facts and ghost stories. The yokai are supernatural creatures in the japanese folklore. You’ll face many challenges, but I’m sure you’ll both be victorious…or not.

The game was originally created for 8-bit computers (C64, ZX Spectrum, and Amstrad CPC) and has been fully revamped and resounded for the Amiga. It uses HAM display for full color support.

The release is planned for the end of the month, and the game will be free.

Here are some screenshots: (one for each langage)

I love adventure games, and I almost never get the chance to play an Amiga game in Greek! Please let us know when it's out.

Nice work. Interactive fiction didn't really go any further in the Amiga era, beyond the Jewels of Darkness updates and a few games like Dungeon Quest, so it's interesting to see what can be done with more memory and better visuals - 10,000 words and 128 distinct deaths certainly go beyond most adventures of any kind. Consoles got lots of games based in Japanese culture, at least the ninjas if not the mythology, but we didn't really, so it's nice to see something slightly different for the Amiga there too.

Thanks guys.

The game will be released on the 28-30 June 2024 at the Posadas party in Spain. It just went through the final tests, and the last pixel adjustments are currently being made.

The start idea of that game was to make a textual adventure game, like in the eighties. On top of that, I choosed several constraints:
  • Use a theme I like: Ninjas, Japanese culture.
  • Use modern gameplay mecanisms: Die & Retry, QTE.
  • Use some bad words and swearing (in protestation of strong rules of classifications organisms like PEGI and ESRB).
  • Translate the game in many langages.

I've written the entire game in French, using French humor and various regional swearing and bad words for the Ninja who gives you instructions. The first five minutes may be intense, but don't worry—he gradually calms down as you make progress.

I setup a huge google form and lot of translators hardly worked on the translations, trying to translate initial humour into their own culture and langage. They did a great work, I would like to thanks them:
  • English: Clive Townsend. The legendary Saboteur author (and Ninja lover) made the honor to translate the game in english (and port it to ZX Spectrum).
  • German: Ythcal with proofreading from Phoenix0870
  • Spanish: The dream team: Robcfg, Hector Alarcon, Trocoloco, Miguelsky.
  • Italian: Some great people also here with Andrea "Mr. Dvg" Pastore, with help of Farox and my friend Parsec (a great Amiga musician).
  • Greek: Great work from Manossg (Amiga lover) with some proofreading from Skafesakis.
  • Polish: Excellent work from Amiga sceners: Piotr Sachanowicz (Sachy) Szymon Pszczolinski (Sim1) with help from Krystian Wlosek

The modules have been ported by another brilliant Amiga scener: Aceman. Another one in the polish team! The original score was written by Tom&Jerry from the Amstrad CPC french scene. Some interface were also created first by CED from CPC scene as well.

For SID lovers, the C64 version have original songs written by Aaron Hickman (DYA).

Also hard challenge here, but yes it is in the list. If any Lode Runner lovers wants to join the adventure, do not hesitate to contact me. Any help will be welcomed (harder to work alone on such big projects).
