We have FINALLY fixed all wall collision issues!!!
This is a big deal fellas, this issue has been plaguing the engine since the very-very first Dread demo! We're talking about the player getting into the map geometry with ease, most explosions and projectiles thrown to them disappearing and even enemies often passing through them effortlessly...

You can understand that all these game breaking problems are massively serious. People have been patient enough and never complained, however I knew it would suck (big time) if I released the game with such important bugs still left in. Hence this has been in my priority list since the birth of the project.

And today, I'm pleased to announce this milestone is also done & ready!
Big kudos to the team!
nice, that must be the biggest relief I'd imagine and a real big deal

This is excellent news, I'd been worried it was a trade-off for the speed. Has it effected the frame rate?

I was also worried about that myself. KK had plans to redo the whole collisions system initially. But it turns out these issues were mostly bug territory. So after fixing them we even got a small improvement in performance instead

Yeah, enemies moving through walls looked a bit annoying.
The team is really moving fast lately, first music and now this.
Great work!

Wow, amazing work. There seems to be a solution to every problem. Its so inspiring to see the talented team tackle one thing after another and actually manage to improve all the time.

New update : Another big milestone reached!

'Assets loading on demand' is finally here fellas!!!
This work brings a number of perks, improvements and critical features missing from the engine, the list includes:
  • Far better control of RAM and assets.
  • More RAM available per level than before (even with in-game music included)!
  • Being able to load and play maps which use different assets (without RAM being the limiting factor anymore).
  • Being able to play one level after the other with stats carrying over (without having to manually select each map anymore).
  • Opening the way for other important features to come, from extras (like expanded menus, intros, a map screen e.t.c.) to real save/loading and much more!
