Video Toaster emulation pre-requirements
Slightly off topic, if Video Toaster 4000 board emulation is added at some time in the distant future then I would consider WinUAE's Amiga emulation feature complete. This may never happen of course. Toni is doing a great job adding 3rd party add-on board emulation to WinUAE and congrats to that hard work even if the VT4000 is never added. He has even added many obscure Amiga cards including PPC and that is quite an amazing feat. This gives Amiga lovers a chance to try PPC without spending thousands of $$$ on a X5000 or even an A1222+ which are very pricey.

First step is: someone must create Toaster WB installation from scratch, confirm it is fully working and send the HDF. Nothing else, just plain 3.1 WB + Toaster software including all examples/effects/etc. (I think I requested one few years ago already)

I have a working installation from my currently non working A4000T. It's a complete 4.3 Toaster Flyer installation with a collection of 3rd party software. I'll have to go through the image and remove any work or projects I've done with the software as well as unrelated software I've installed but it was fully working the last time I had the A4000T booting around a year ago.

Moved from beta thread.

Flyer is totally different thing and very very much much more more complex (internal CPU, SCSI controller(s) etc). |

It has both the Toaster 4000 3.1 and the 4.2 Toaster Flyer installed. It would be easy to remove the 4.2 version as they are in different folders. All the extra software is for the Flyer and the Toaster 4000 installation is pure Newtek.

Flyer is just a video recorder to the hard disk device anyway. In today’s world I don’t think that card has to be emulated. Video Toaster 4000 emulation would be good enough.

Was a reinstall done with just Video Toaster 4.2 software on an HD image for Toni? Last edited by Pyromania; 10 April 2024 at 21:58. |

I've gone through my old images and I found one for the CF card in the A4000T dated April 30, 2014. I bought the A4000T at the beginning of April 2014 so that is the cleanest one I have. The install is very fresh and the only additional programs installed at that point were Toaster Vision and Alpha Paint. One of the partitions on the CF image isn't even formatted yet. The 3.1 install is separate from the 4.2. 3.1 is in the Toaster folder and 4.2 is in the Newtek folder. Alpha Paint works with 4.2 and Toaster Vision is just a utility in a separate folder. The two versions of the software don't work together in any way. The parallel install in 4.3 was just a convenience for users who still used the Toaster just for switching and were used to the old interface and either didn't have a flyer or didn't need to use it all the time. The image is 4gb but since it's mostly empty space it should compress down to a reasonable size. The Winuae config file I have for it is as close as I could get to the actual hardware. My A4000T was always a Flyer machine. The previous owner had a videography business and the Flyer drives it came with were filled with wedding videos. I never even installed an RTG card, I never used it for anything but the Toaster/Flyer in native Amiga mode.

@Ami_GFX
Did you send Toni an image of your hard disk with that configuration? |
