Resources?
A question about possible lack of resources.
I have an A600 with additional 1mb RAM in the trap door and HDMI2RGB conversion - otherwise unit is stock. I've put in a 3.1 Kickstart ROM, a CF Card reader to boot from an SD Card. I have installed and set up OS 3.2 using WinUAE, I've added all my programs and setup WHDLoad with a bunch of games - all working very nicely under emulation. However when I bootup Workbench in the actual Amiga things don't really work, when I open the games menu the list is empty, if i try to run "add games" it either hangs or i get a message that RAM is full. I can't open most programs without some error or alert. Previously with the same setup but the stock ROM and Classic WB all worked fine, so I guess I'm running low on resources. Would something like an 8mb fastram help? the 1bm extra RAM in the trap-door is the maximum I can add is it not? Thanks in advance. |

It does sound like you are out of memory, how much is free? (eg. as shown in WB title bar, or by Avail command).
As you have KS 3.1, the KS 3.2 has to be loaded to RAM, so you could lower the memory requirements by using a 3.2 ROM. |

Correction I am using a v3.2.1 ROM - not 3.1 as stated in my post.
Top of the window is says "180,xxx graphics mem 0 other ram". I've tried dropping chip ram to 2mb RAM in WinUAE with no fast ram and things seem to still work, I should be seeing similar performance issues in WinUAE shouldn't I if resources or similar? In the real A600, I can't even open "newshell" |

Use A600 non-expanded quickstart and add 1 MB Z2 RAM, then you have the same config as your real Amiga. And of course also use 3.2.1 ROM and not 3.2.2. The later the ROM is the fewer modules need to be loaded into RAM.

Z2
Note that more than 4MB Z2 RAM will disable the PCMCIA slot. |

It probably means that although the board has 8 MB RAM, you can switch it down to 4 MB to make the PCMCIA port visible.

Makes sense - if I am using the PCMCIA as a drive then I'm better of opting for a 4mb version then I guess.
